Toledo facing drastic cutbacks

If you've forced yourself to look at the Toledo Blade or listened to local stations, you know that Toledo is in lots of trouble. The schools are facing drastic cuts of $30 mil, which has led the school board to put a levy on the ballot. The city itself is asking for a levy, in addition to the schools, which has led to some really angry citizens. The new mayor, for whom we had hope, has decided that the way out of this mess is to make it too expensive for ANYONE to want to live or recreate in the city by imposing taxes on everything. On top of it all, it appears that employees of the city are unrealistic in their expectations of being paid when there is NO MONEY, just as in Detroit, which in 1950 was the wealthiest city in America. Now Toledo faces fiscal emergency, not surprisingly:
