About those racial slurs tea partiers supposedly hurled

Having seen two videos in which nothing, NOTHING happened as these fellows marched imperiously across the street, puffed with their own importance, no racial slurs can be heard. Are the black accusers believable? Possibly. Could someone have shouted racial/homophobic slurs? Possibly. It's just really, really funny that these are always the forms which the other side uses to discredit tea partiers, who in general are the mildest of folks. And let's be honest. When was the last time the media held a group of protesters responsible for the behavior of one or two of its members? Oh, right. Any time there's a tea party. Read what James Taranto points out about typical Alinsky tactics:

"He told them, instead, to go hear the speech dressed up as members of the Ku Klux Klan, and whenever Bush said something in defense of the Vietnam War, they should cheer and wave placards, reading "The K.K.K. supports Bush." And that is what the students did with very successful, attention-getting results.

Of course it's quite possible that some knuckleheaded tea-partiers did shout racial slurs. If so, then shame on them. But even if so, it's telling that the media focus on this. Remember Cindy Sheehan? When she was protesting George W. Bush, reporters routinely presented her as an ordinary grieving mother, eliding her crackpot anti-American views.
