What are Democratic leaders saying? “If you pass the Stupak amendment, more children will be born, and therefore it will cost us millions more. That’s one of the arguments I’ve been hearing,” Stupak says. “Money is their hang-up. Is this how we now value life in America? If money is the issue — come on, we can find room in the budget. This is lifewe’re talking about.”

I didn't cave.
Drudge has this linked, so we usually avoid those links, but this is so important, as we watch the machinations take place in D.C., as if we and our wishes do not exist. As hesitant as we were to trust so-called pro-life Democrats such as Bart Stupak, we have to admit that he has held firm, and you can tell by the fact that he granted at interview to NRO and the fact that his voice is agonized in these quotes that he has been under tremendous pressure, unlike anything most of us understand. Stupak is a former highway patrolman whose son committed suicide a few years ago; Congress established a Michigan scholarship in Stupak's son's name, which was canceled in the light of his stance on health care and abortion.
