It's been mentioned on Fox several times that the incandescent light bulb ban has been delayed one year. I haven't been able to find any info on this. Will update.
Only in Canada... Burgess funding cut amendment would have delayed ban on 100W bulbs by a year but blocked in Senate.
All existing and known general service incandescents will progressively be banned on EISA regulation, by 2020 at the latest freedomlightbulb post But there are various exceptions in the early years (which will be reviewed) like 3 way lights, "rough service" thick walled bulbs etc along with Halogen type bulbs. All costlier, and Halogens also have some light quality differences and have marginal energy savings for the price, which is why they are not popular.
Canada delayed at least 2 years, officially decided Nov 2011 Texas legally allows local manufacture since June. 6 other states in various stages of ban repeal http://ceolas.net/#li01inx with regulation details and updates
Thanks, all about Tom McMillin's Michigan repeal bill and the background to it: Freedom Light Bulb: Michigan - more on some others there also . Not sure about any Ohio and Indiana efforts - yet there used to be incandescent manufacturing there?

Oh, thanks! I know Michigan was trying to make the local exception work too.
ReplyDeleteHalogens are dangerous; they've been banned in some university dorms because they get so hot they start fires.
We are in good hands.
Not.
Thanks,
