Some of the oil from Utica Shale in eastern Ohio may not need a pipeline to get to the refinery. It will be trucked to Canton. Marathon Petroleum already has installed temporary truck rack equipment to receive up to 1,000 barrels per day from Utica shale wells. The company is working on a permanent truck rack that could handle 12,000 barrels per day. The refinery has a 78,000 barrel per day capacity. Marathon and Chesapeake Energy are negotiating a deal to have the refineries in Canton and Catlettsburg, Ky process the oil.
