The Obama I knew was nothing like the lifelong pragmatic centrist that he was pretending to be in the 2008 presidential campaign. When I talked politics with the young Obama, he expressed a profound commitment to bringing about a socialist economic system in the U.S. -- completely divorced from the profit motive -- which would occur, in his lifetime, through a potentially violent, Communist-style revolution. In this context, I saw my report on young Obama as a key piece of evidence suggesting a profound continuity in his belief system. We will see if this changes. It is surprising that Obama's team is falling back on the same behavior in every instance, including the reinstitution of a squealer website for neighbors to finger neighbors.
Although I was surprised by Barack Obama's insistence on his mainstream ideological credentials, I was shocked that my attempts to spread the news about young Obama's Marxism failed to gain any media traction with reporters, activists, or campaign staffs during the 2008 presidential campaign.
For example, the failed green company run by an Obama contribute to which the administration loaned 500 million taxpayer dollars has gone unexpectedly bankrupt:
As the Congressional hearing on the failed solar energy manufacturer Solyndra gets under way, it's already clear that the Obama administration is prepared to fall back on a tried and tested strategy: blaming Bush. How was President Bush to blame? Why, it was a program and the people he had put into place who loaned the money under Obama's watch.
Problem with that is that the Bush administration had turned them down.
Then of course there's the son of stimulus. Throwing billions of dollars at unions and claiming it's putting people back to work.
He's also hitting the road again in the Canadian built luxury tour bus, which will no doubt be flown from place to place like the last time.
And, as usual, his team is sending out mixed signals. You can break the bill up and pass it in pieces. Or not.
And he's screaming at the opposition (even in his own party) to pass a bill RIGHT NOW that was just submitted to Congress Monday night.
None of the current crises are his fault; just wanted to make sure you knew that.
