Breaking Medicare's promise

The ad begins with "Tell President Obama to stop hurting seniors and women. Reverse these devastating Medicare cuts.” Produced by the Coalition for Jobs, Growth and Prosperity and already on the air in Iowa the ad hits at the funding for Obamacare. Obamacare is nearly half funded by diverting Medicare money into Obamacare. Although the Coalition for Jobs will focus primarily on Midwestern races the theme of this ad bites and is sure to be copied by other organizations and campaigns.

Since 1965 over two generations have paid into Medicare and funded health care for older Americans but now Obama and the Democrats have broken the covenant. Are people who can't be trust the ones to "mend not end" Obamacare? How will senator X fund Obamacare without debauching Medicare and breaking the covenant?
These are not hypothetical, out year cuts. They are happening now. Kathleen Sibelius cut the maximum amount she could from Medicare’s payments for home health-care services – when a professional from a Medicare-certified home health agency comes to an elderly person’s house and provides nursing care, physical therapy, or speech-language pathology services. Sibelius cut the maximum permitted by law, 3.5 percent, and declared HHS would do the same for the next three years.

Support for Obamacare diminishes with age. If voter turnout in the fall elections follows the trend seen in primary elections so far supporters of Obamacare face a bleak future. In a recent post I noted that in the entire city of Chicago less than 19,000 voters under age 45 voted.
