Conservative Outlooks:
In 2011, DOI distributed a nationwide survey with the questionable purpose of measuring the societal, non-economic value of removing the four dams. The survey consisted of several waves of mailings, some of which included a two dollar bill used as an incentive to respond and a letter stating that DOI will send an additional $20 if the completed survey is returned before a specific deadline. According to the Federal Register, an estimated 10,400 households were contacted about the survey. In questioning yesterday before the House Water and Power Subcommittee, the Bureau of Reclamation was unable to provide an accounting of how much had been spent on this survey.Yes, you read that right. Our taxpayer dollars mailed out in 2 dollar bills randomly to people in the hope that they would fill out a survey.
Chicken feed, perhaps, compared to the trillion dollar stimulus.
But what was the survey about? the need to remove four privately owned dams on the Klamath River in Oregon and California.
But Dear Leader isn't worried. He's planning the next vacation and fundraisers. From Director Blue, who doesn't really like the new Obama schlockumentary very much:
ANd our opinion from this blog:
Barack Hussein Obama is busy stirring up division between the races and classes, sticking his nose in every place he can to make people unhappy with the wonderful lives we lead in this country.
You're probably familiar with the Cloward Piven strategy formulated in 1966. The Left has been waiting for these circumstances for years.
Michael Reisch and Janice Andrews wrote that Cloward and Piven "proposed to create a crisis in the current welfare system – by exploiting the gap between welfare law and practice – that would ultimately bring about its collapse and replace it with a system of guaranteed annual income. They hoped to accomplish this end by informing the poor of their rights to welfare assistance, encouraging them to apply for benefits and, in effect, overloading an already overburdened bureaucracy."[4]
Collapse the system by overwhelming it, then reshape it with a guaranteed income for everyone.
So what do present day OWS have in common with Cloward and Piven?
Group conflict, spelling political crisis for the local party apparatus, would thus become acute as welfare rolls mounted and the strains on local budgets became more severe.”Don't think so, chumps.
The troops are out to make sure this gets stopped.
Rock on, Baby Boomers.
