Lincoln, you're not

  Yesterday he compared himself to MLK. A few days before that he complained to La Raza that it'd be a lot easier if he could just do everything himself instead of bothering with the other branches of government.

  What's on the menu for today?
  Comparing himself to Lincoln.
  This is disturbing for a number of reasons, not the least of which is that the idea of compromise is expected from conservatives once progressives lose elections.

The president's remarks came in response to a question from a woman who said that congressional Republicans are refusing to be a "good partner" to work with the president.  "What happens to our democracy?" the woman asked.  "We are in a very divided country right now.  What can you say to help us with democracy itself?"
Obama told the woman that "democracy is always a messy business in a big country like this."  [SNIP]
"When you listen to what the Federalists said about the Anti-Federalists, and the names that Jefferson called Hamilton and back and forth -- I mean those guys were tough," Obama said.  "Lincoln -- they used to talk about him almost as bad as they talk about me.  So democracy has never been for the faint of heart." 

  At a La Raza meeting, Obama said:

"I know some people want me to bypass Congress and change the laws by myself." (clapping and cheers) "And believe me, dealing with Congress right now, the idea (chanting, clapping "Yes, youe can! Yes, you can!")  Believe me, the idea of doing things on my own is very tempting! But that's not how our democracy works."

   Where was compromise on the health care debacle? On the numerous regulations the administration passed for small businesses?
  This narcissistic individual is now playing the role of martyr, even though he does not himself know the meaning of the word compromise.
  Come on, 2012.
