In a July 12 post I named 2 governors, 2 senators and 7 congressmen who won't be attending the Democratic convention in Charlotte. I'm pleased to announce that two more representatives, both from the state of New York have declined to make the trip. Tim Bishop of NY 1 says he'll stay home. With what looks like a small fortune of upcoming legal fees arising from allegations that he tried to extort $10,000 from one of his Long Island constituents Bishop may need to tighten the family budget. His district includes South Hampton, East Hampton and Shelter Island so I'm sure can find plenty to do. He could maybe dust his cucumbers, pick some tomatoes or maybe just drive to into Massapequa and hang out at the mall.
Count Congresswoman Louise Slaughter of New York 28 out too. At 83 maybe the old girl just is not up to the hijinks that go with a convention. She won easily last election but her district has been hacked to pieces through reapportionment so maybe she's feeling nervous. Anyway update the count to 2 governors, 2 senators, and 9 congressmen. We're not going to fill Bank of American Stadium this way!
