From Saint Thomas More Church in Centennial Colorado:
Fr. Andrew Kemberling was invited to lead the opening prayer at the 2012 Colorado Republican State Assembly and Convention in the Magness Arena at the University of Denver. The moral challenges facing our country are not caused by political affiliation, but rather by attacks on religious freedom. He invites all people of conscience to uphold religious freedom.
This invocation is dynamite! Father Kemberling makes it clear he is not a great fan of socialism. "This is an issue between democracy and socialism..... others who have stood with us have died at the hands of socialism for the past two centuries." "Socialism will never be compatible with our democracy".

Walking The Gay Marriage Platform Plank
Senators Claire McCaskill and Joe Manchin can run from Obama but now that won't be enough. Now they must also run from their party. Both of the Senators have announced they will not be attending the Democratic convention, figuring that Obama is too unpopular in their respective states to come within shouting distance. Unfortunately for them, the platform committee is about to make it much more difficult to be seen with the rest of their party. The proposed gay marriage plank in the Democratic Party platform may play alright in San Francisco but it won't play in Wheeling or Jefferson City.
The National Democratic Party in the past had the good sense not to make broad proposals that jeopardized local party careers. Now they cite polling data that tells them that 65% of Democrats favor gay marriage. Duh! Do the math. Thirty-five percent of Democrats are not onboard nor are 40% of independents and the number of Republicans supporting gay marriage wouldn't fill a Chick-fil-a dining room. Yes, in many parts of the country voters will be distracted from thinking about Obama's stinking and sinking economy but this plank is like distracting a migraine sufferer with a root canal. Clever! Take a contentious issue that has been smoldering in the public subconscious and put it front and center in a close election, add HHS contraceptive mandates and gently stir in amnesty for illegals and you have a sure fire recipe for disaster.

Twitter Caves to NBC
I have my problems with Google, but Google had the fortitude to stand up to China, to take its losses and leave with its principles intact. Twitter had its defining moment too and it failed miserably. Demonstrating a subservience almost on a level with an Obama bow, Twitter caved to, of all institutions NBC.
Guy Adams writes for a British newspaper from Los Angeles. He has written scathing reviews of NBC's coverage of the Olympics.
At the centre of controversy was NBC’s attempt to leverage maximum revenue from the Games, for which they paid almost a billion dollars, by foregoing live coverage of high-profile events. Instead, it intends to footage on time-delay during evening prime time, when brands will pay a premium to advertise.[...]
Even when they do find live sport, NBC viewers must suffer some of the most invasive advertising in the history of television: roughly 20 minutes during each hour is taken up by commercial breaks.
Critics have also rounded on the quality of NBC’s commentary, which has been riddled with basic factual errors. They ranged from a cycling host’s allegation that the Surrey countryside is full of “chateaus” to a map on NBC’s website which describes Australia as “located in central Europe, bordered to the north by Germany and the Czech Republic, [and] to the west by Switzerland.
When Adams took to Twitter to expand on his rant NBC complained to Twitter and Twitter dutifully suspended his account. A true profile in courage!

Mayor Bloomberg's Obamacare Preview
Eventually the country will come to its senses; maybe not in our lifetimes but eventually. How will a detached and objective historian view Mayor Michael Bloomberg. He will probably come off better than Hitler or a pre Civil War slave trader but I'll wager his historical denouement will be hideous. The very idea that a mother would be forced to endure a lecture on breast feeding each time her child needed nourishment is positively totalitarian. Which is worse? The policy or the way the policy was implemented? There was no public discussion, no vote before the City Council just the dictatorial whim of a Napoleonic autocrat.
Yes, there are too many fat people in New York and I do not concede that that fact is any of his Honor's business and I don't want to hear what a forward looking, compassionate, caring despot he is. Even New Yorkers should be able to understand that the end does not justify the means. I want healthy children therefore I will hold them hostage until their mothers hear all the clever things I want them to hear. Free needles, condoms, and HIV screenings but lock up the baby formula.
And how long will Obamacare exist until the elderly are forced to hear what a burden they are to their families. Their families really need that money or they won't be able to pay their taxes and we wouldn't want that. When will gunshot victims be forced to listen to this cretin's ideas on gun control before they can get an IV drip. Will injured workers be forced to read OSHA bulletins and endure the insightful thinking of Hilda Solis before surgery.
Does anyone doubt that Obamacare will have death panels?

Five ATF Agents Blamed For Fast and Furious
The first of three reports that will be issued by the Committee on Oversight and Government Reform finds 5 ATF personnel are responsible for Fast and Furious, an operation “marred by missteps, poor judgments and inherently reckless strategy.” The report states that then Acting ATF Director Kenneth Melson "stayed above the fray" rather than bringing what was an apparent failed operation to a speedy conclusion.
The report also for the first time revealed that two guns from Fast and Furious were found at the murder scene of Mario Gonzalez, the brother of Patricia Gonzalez, then attorney general for the Mexican state of Chihuahua. ATF then attempted to hide the operation from the Mexican government. ATF Agent Tonya English urged Agent Hope MacAllister and their supervisor, David J. Voth, to keep it under wraps. “My thought is not to release any information,” she told them in an email.
The joint staff report, authored by Congressman Darrell Issa and Senator Charles Grassley was highly critical of the ATF supervisors. It found that William Newell, the special agent-in-charge in Phoenix, consistently pushed the limit with risky investigative techniques. His boss, Deputy Assistant Director for Field Operations William McMahon "rubber stamped" documents crossing his desk and is charged in the report with giving false information to Congress. Mark Chait and William Hoover are we found to have exhibited very little responsibility or leadership.
The investigators said, ATF agents said that they were hamstrung by federal prosecutors in Arizona from obtaining criminal charges for illegal gun sales, and that Melson “even offered to travel to Phoenix to write the indictments himself. Still, he never ordered it be shut down.”
The report stops short of accusing any ATF agents of criminal wrong doing during the operation but two more final reports will deal with “the devastating failure of supervision and leadership” at the Department of Justice and an “unprecedented obstruction of the congressional investigation by the highest levels of the Justice Department, including the attorney general himself.”
This first report should give Eric Holder warning that he will have a starring role in one of the next two reports. As usual, the cover up is worse than the original act.

Romney was right: how prepared does THIS look?
So Romney was widely mocked as being inappropriate for observing that perhaps the Brits weren't quite ready for their big Olympics moment. He's already been proven right.
Any time you have a situation where 2 guys show up as security when 1000 were supposed to and ONE of those guys has to be fired for being high, you have a serious problem. One hopes that is the last we'll hear about security.
But now scandalously we hear that thousands of seats have gone empty; great caverns of peopleless auditoriums have been pictured. Thus Olympic officials, to retrieve their dignity and make Romney appear inaccurate, have had to import teachers and soldiers to fill the seats.
As Rush reported today, he was denied seats 6 months ago to swimming events; the seats were all filled, he was told. Nobody, NOBODY could get tickets.
From the gossipy Daily Mail, we see the embarrassing truth:

Dark Knight Rises: defeat the occupiers
I'm a movie buff. I enjoy all sorts of movies, even made by the BBC. Having seen the previous Batman movies, we trotted over to the local cinemas to catch the "Dark Knight Rises." A local policeman strolled the lobby, looking bored. This is the first time I've seen this; I hope it's the last.
The first thing to know about "Dark Knight" is that it's very long and could've been cut. Undoubtedly, the producers felt they have a good thing in the franchise and wanted to give the audience a real show; it's too long. But it is a real show.
I specifically avoid violent flicks, especially the Saw movies, which somehow teenagers find redeeming. Ugh.
Anyway there's a great review of Knight over at the WSJ. It's a pretty accurate critique of the movie, in appreciation of its capitalist themes.
I really don't know how you could watch this movie and not think of the occupier movement. There are scenes in which the "99%" decides to pull the 1% from their homes, beat them and steal their wealth, all the time screaming that the city needs to be returned to the people of the streets.
There are mock courtroom scenes in which they pass judgment on the 1%.
Of course, returning the city to the occupiers is a disaster, naturally, especially to the marauders who roam the streets in search of "equity" and anything they can steal with impunity.
Over and over, watching this movie reminds of current events, like the ACORN siege of bank executives' homes (remember the teenage boy caught home alone when ACORN arrived? Terrifying.). There really can't be any argument that Obama, through his attitude, policies and remark that he was the only thing standing between the executives and the pitchforks, encouraged his followers to behave this way.
From the WSJ:
The violence in Knight isn't necessarily graphic; it's just depressing, disturbing and unremitting. There's one scene reminiscent of Fallujah that is truly horrifying. And this isn't a perfect movie; the arc is uneven and the audience does not have enough time to celebrate victory. Instead the viewer rides the thrills and chills of constant action. There should've been more cheers in this movie.
Another disconcerting aspect is the choice of Anne Hathaway as Catwoman, who achieves a sort of cathartic transformation. Though she's fine in the film, it's disconcerting that she (a millionaire) marched on the streets of NY, wearing a face scarf, a bodyguard and a sign that read " Blackboards not bullets."
As Klavan says at WSJ, do these people not realize they ARE the 1%?
Do people like Hathaway not realize they would be the first to be pulled from their NYC penthouse apartments?
How could Hathaway make this film at the same time marching with the occupiers?
If this is not an example of cognitive dissonance, there is no such thing.
She is just one of many, apparently, who do not realize they are protesting....themselves.
But overall this is an intriguing honest movie. I don't think I've ever seen anything, anything like it ever.
Did Nolan know what he was making?
I don't see how he didn't.
Occupiers are occupiers, whether they picture themselves associated with the evil Bane or not.
It's an amazing film.

From the WSJ:
"The Dark Knight Rises" is a stinging, relentless critique of that upside-down and ultimately indefensible worldview. And why not? Our chattering classes frequently tell us that art should speak truth to power and shock the bourgeoisie. It just never seems to occur to them that "the power"—and the modern Babbitts of the bourgeoisie—are themselves.
Mr. Nolan's response to them—the perfectly cast, brilliantly choreographed conclusion to his Batman trilogy—is a sophisticated vision of the way economic systems actually work and don't work. The essence of that vision is encapsulated in two scenes that purposely echo one another.

George Obama: OMG We Elected the Wrong Brother!
After watching the above video I began to think America elected the wrong brother. Until viewing this clip I had though of George Obama as more or less the stereotype most of us have, which I suppose was developed from reading too many National Geographic magazines during our formative years. He lived in a tiny hut ergo he was impoverished and probably illiterate. The video was taken from
Dinesh D’Souza's upcoming film
2016: Obama’s America.
George Obama, at least in this short clip, has a beguiling charm. There is no bitterness toward colonial Britain or toward his brother. No help needed from his brother, he's a man who can take care of himself. Thank you. This Obama has upset the left and probably his family with the remark " The whites should have stayed in Africa longer." Not exactly the tone we get from Dreams From My Father written by a less pragmatic member of the family.
From a blog that claims to offer "Unflinching conservatism powered by true Christianity" that toes the liberal line we get this unbiased assessment.
George Obama’s comments in the above video demonstrate that colonialism was much more than merely an economic enterprise. It was inarguably a system of cerebral slavery in which Africans were led to believe the lie that white people are intellectually superior to all races, and that blacks are subhuman primitives who are entirely dependent on the benevolent white race to be anything more than jungle-dwelling simians. Many Africans—both those born pre-and post-colonialism—have been indoctrinated into thinking like George Obama.
Right on! And everyone from Sandra Fluke to Chris Hayes has been indoctrinated into thinking like Barack Obama. 2016 has opened in one theater in Houston. It will soon be released nationally and may change the way many American think aboutGeorge Barack Obama
Update: I have been advised that this video does not load in all browsers. If it does not load you can view it here.

Why Does Nikki Haley Scare Democrats?
South Carolina Democrats are fuming at Governor Nikki Haley. The governor, pledging to cut waste from the state budget, has issued an astonishing 81 vetoes. Unfortunately for the citizens of South Carolina the Rino controlled state Senate has allowed all but 30 of the budget cuts to be overridden. The governor has cut funding for teachers' pay raises, an arts commission, and non-profit rape crisis centers, unartfully calling the rape crisis centers special interests. Normally mundane state budget debates don't merit national attention but the Huffington Post has at least two posts critical of the governor's budget. They are afraid of her!
In the manner Democrats drove Sarah Palin from office they have filed meritless ethics complaints against Haley. The combined legal costs from a two-day hearing was $111,010.60 – $61,010.60 for attorneys hired by the House of Representatives and $50,000 for the governor. The hearing failed to produce any charges and Haley paid her legal fees from her campaign funds. They are afraid of her!
Now, the party of cerebral Alvin Greene has found a new scandal. Haley's 14 year old daughter has a part time, $8 per hour job in the state tourism gift shop and there are allegations that the governor pulled strings to get her that job. Say it ain' t so! What has happened to the Palmetto State? Nepotism at the highest levels! So blatant was this last alleged breach of ethics that a nonpartisan public interest group that hires only washed up Democrats, the Washington based Campaign Legal Center felt compelled to opine on Haley's low ethical standards.
“Even these minimum-wage jobs in this economy can be pretty tough to find,” said Meredith McGehee, policy director for the Campaign Legal Center. “While this is probably a small-potatoes case, it creates the appearance of a conflict of interest and strikes me as a politically tone-deaf decision.”
They are afraid her!
Keep in mind when thinking of conflicts of interest, South Carolina was the victim of an interest conflicted NLRB that sought to snuff out thousands of jobs at a new Boeing plant. Now McGehee worries about appearance of a single 14 year old's employment.
Haley seems to thrive on the give and take but the latest attack hit a nerve. “Y’all are not allowed to talk about my children,” Haley told the State, a Columbia newspaper. Fighting with the local media comes easy to Haley. In the past she has been accused of sexism when she referred to a reporter as a little girl."God bless that little girl at the Post and Courier," she remarked in a radio interview.
In a state where the xenophobic Democratic Party Chairman, Dick Harpootlian, publicly worries about governor's family's ties to terrorism, and has referred to the governor as a rag head Haley would seem to have an uncertain future but that same state has given the country a legislative Tea Party trifecta; Senator Jim DeMint and Congressmen Tim Scott and Trey Gowdy. I like Haley's chances.

Olympics loves govt health care; the truth, not so much
London chose to celebrate the NHS at the Olympics opener; apparently liberals needed to show off English the pride of free" NHS health care.
Some have speculated that this NHS reference was in mockery of Americans' aversion to government administered health care.
Just google NHS horror stories and you'll begin to see why Americans dread government health care; Obama's people patterned Obamacare after the NHS, declaring that at age 60 when most people begin to need health care, QALY (quality of life analysis) determines that costs will be "contained" by cutbacks on procedures and services for the elderly.
This is no secret. Those who were celebrating NHS health care apparently have the privilege of receiving adequate medical care. Others have been not so lucky.
This is why we really, really do not want government health care, regardless the foolish and bizarre Olympic opener.

- A 22 year old died of thirst, even after calling the police for a drink of water. Mistakes were made, all hospital personnel involved agreed.
- A child was denied treatment because of costs.
- Common surgeries such as hip replacements and cataract removal have been cut, rationed.
- In an effort to cut costs, procedures to put in tubes to control ear infections in children are cut or rationed.
- Patients have been barred from treatment for personally vindictive reasons.
- OTOH, some patients are more "equal" than others.
- And then there's this guy, who was told he needed to stop smoking before they'd fix his arm, but then canceled his surgery four times for various reasons, including lack of hospital time and beds.
This is why we really, really do not want government health care, regardless the foolish and bizarre Olympic opener.
GM's Predatory Lending
"Predatory lending tricked people into taking out loans that they couldn't pay back. The banks did that, don't you know. These banks, they targeted these poor people and they targeted these minorities." That may not be an exact quote but we have all heard Obama express this cant ad nauseam. Guess what? Predatory lending is back and we are all to blame, at least all of us who still pay income tax. It's not the banks this time it's General Motors in which the taxpayers still have stake. The Treasury owns 26.5% of the automaker, or 500 million shares. The stock price would need to be $53 to recoup those taxpayer costs. Presently the price is $19.67 per share and there is a matter of $24 billion in unfunded pension liabilities but we can cover that in another post.
Normally one would think, as GM's largest shareholder, the administration would be breaking kneecaps but no. The auto industry was exempted in Dodd-Frank. Rules that would result in hundreds of million of dollars in fines for banks do not apply to GM. About a year ago GM acquired a new captive lending arm, subprime specialist AmeriCredit. Renamed GM Financial, it has played a significant role in GM's growth.
Credit ratings or FICO scores range from 300 to 850. A score less than 660 is considered sub prime. GM Financial auto loans to customers with FICO scores below 660 rose from 87% of total loans in Q4 2010 to 93% in Q1 2012. In other word, almost all the consumer debt GM Financial holds is subprime which amounts to about $6.5 billion. Luckily for the taxpayer GM Financial finances only about 8% of GM loans. The remainder of the loans are run through Ally Financial, formerly known as GMAC.
Suffice it to say GM has bigger problems that the subprime loans on it books but the hypocrisy of the double standard for the auto industry and everyone else really an outrage. Personally, I subscribe to a laissez-faire philosophy on money lending. If the borrower and the creditor are happy when the loan is made that good enough for me. If someone wants to loan money to deadbeats good! Just don't come crying to me when things go wrong. On the other hand, GM by contemporary standards is a moral deviant and increasingly a risk to what is left of the taxpayers' bailout cash.
In the meantime, bad credit no problem, Bankruptcy no problem, no job no problem and if that's not enough we'll throw in a set of low profile tires.

Boehner Won't Block HHS Mandates
Maybe it's time John Boehner stepped down. Assuming that the Republicans can hold on to the House they really need to elect a new Speaker. Many of us have held our tempers and our tongues as promises have been broken. The promise to cut $100 billion from the budget immediately after the 2010 election ended up being a paltry $30 million or about 5 % of what was lost on Solyndra alone; not to mention the countless billion that went to Obama donors in other DOE grants and loans.
Nancy Pelosi at least fought for her party's principles. On September 30, because the Senate has failed to pass a budget, the next fiscal year must be funded through a continuing resolution. The implementation of the prime weapon of Obama's war on religion, the HHS mandates cannot be funded without the cooperation if not the literal consent of the Speaker. Yet the Speaker without saying how, indicates the problem can be resolved by"other than legislative avenues."
Senate Democrats are threatening to dump the economy into the trash unless a tax increase on small business is passed and the Speaker doesn't have the gumption to stand up for religion and the unborn. It's times like this we all yearn for the aggressive leadership of Denny Hastert. Mr. Speaker either you do it or the man who takes your place will. You can see Boehner confronted on camera here.

Obama only meets with cronies, bundlers these days
So what the heck has Obama been doing the past year?
Well, he hasn't met with the House Budget Committee Chairman in over a year.
He hasn't met with his jobs council in over 6 months.
He just met with his cabinet on July 25th for the first time since January.
What has he been doing, considering how concerned he is with the economic situation?
Well, even the commies agree that he's played golf 10 times in the last 6 months. In fact, he's played golf 102 times since he became president.
And, as of July 19, he's held 106 fundraisers.
In fact, his personal schedule usually looks pretty much like this, except that sometimes he has four fundraisers a day:
Working on that economy, y'all.
Well, he hasn't met with the House Budget Committee Chairman in over a year.
The absence of even a conversation with Ryan – no less a meeting – calls into the question whether Obama is the least bit serious about trying to find agreement on extending the Bush tax cuts, an issue on which he has been pounding Republicans as allies of the rich. It suggests he is much more content to let this and other fiscal problems simmer so he can use them as a means of attacking Republicans.
During the past year, Ingraham noted, Obama has seen fit to meet with Paul McCartney and Mick Jagger, but not Ryan. She could have added to the list a host of other celebrities and athletes, including Sarah Jessica Parker, Jessica Alba, Barbara Streisand, Charles Barkley, Chris Rock, Jay-Z and Tom Hanks and George Clooney, which whom he’s had multiple sessions. He also doesn't meet with John Boehner.

Obama admits inner city teachers' ineffectiveness
In a shocking display of racism, the Obama administration has issued an executive order commanding evaluations of students' behavior based simply on race, regardless of their behavior.
This will result, critics fear, in all other students', Including Asian and White, behavior being more critically evaluated than black students'.
If administrators were to judge White or Asian students primarily by race, another Department of Justice might file charges. Instead this DOJ will be monitoring schools' disciplinary records, in addition to the Departments of Education and Labor.
Inevitably more bureaucracy will govern schools' non-educational activities in the name of social justice:
Daily Caller reveals that Obama's executive order states that:
Inevitably more bureaucracy will govern schools' non-educational activities in the name of social justice:
Daily Caller reveals that Obama's executive order states that:
“African Americans lack equal access to highly effective teachers and principals, safe schools, and challenging college-preparatory classes, and they disproportionately experience school discipline,” said the order, titled “White House Initiative On Educational Excellence.”
Because of those causes, the report suggests, “over a third of African American students do not graduate from high school on time with a regular high school diploma, and only four percent of African American high school graduates interested in college are college-ready across a range of subjects.”This is part of this president's election-year outreach to African American students in education, which specifically targets Black students' education rates, special education designations and disciplinary records.
Apparently changing the disciplinary methods will improve behavior.
This news comes in addition to the news that there is an African American Health Initiative built into Obamacare, which minority leaders say "may benefit black peole more than most." From The Root:
Under the Obama administration, the National Center on Minority Health and Health Disparities has become the National Institute on Minority Health and Health Disparities. ...the stimulus plan "has invested a significant amount of money in strengthening the infrastructure of community health centers.".... "This is outside of the Affordable Care Act, but it's particularly important, because over 67 percent of community health centers serve minority communities. .....For an organization to be considered a community health center, more than 50 percent of its board members must be from the community it serves, and it must provide medical services. A community health center, therefore, could be anything from a free clinic to a homeless community center. It appears complaints among the African American and liberal communities about inadequate educational funding and unaddressed initiatives are unfounded, as Obama has sought to equalize by prioritizing certain races.
Yet it is odd that the Obama administration admits that minority schools, which are governed by strict union codes (95% of funding which goes to Democrats), have teachers which are inferior.
One would hope standards would be raised and that initiatives would be directed at improving educators' ability to reach minorities.
Instead the focus will be on stopping teachers and administrators from disciplining students, no matter than race.
At worst, the more bad behavior Black students present, the more charges will need to be trumped up against Asians and Whites to be able to discipline the worst offenders.
Interesting.
It also appears that, indeed, some animals are more equal than others, after all.
The Mike Kelly freedom speech they've all been talking about

Free Phones From Obama
A week ago I did a post the on the Obama phone. Consider this video as an update to that post. This program is outrageous.
Court Blocks HHS Mandate
While most of the attention regarding the HHS mandate that
no co-pay abortifacients be included in all employer health care plans has focused on religious institutions especially the Catholic Church a small family owned business has fought and won an injunction in federal court.
Alliance Defending Freedom attorneys obtained the first-ever order against the mandate on behalf of Hercules Industries and the Catholic family that owns it. The Denver based
heating ventilation and air conditioning manufacturer that employs nearly 300 full-time workers, got an injunction in federal court which stops enforcement of the controversial ObamaCare mandate.
The court decision applies only to this company and will not be applied nationwide. Colorado District Judge John Kane said that the government’s arguments “are countered, and indeed outweighed, by the public interest in the free exercise of religion."
The case must be argued in court but the mandate is stayed for the present. Under the mandate all employers except those with a religious affiliation must begin offering contraceptives and abortifacients in their insurance policies beginning August 1. More on the injunction can be found here, here, and here.

Piers Morgan; Everything Mitt Romney Said Was True
Supposedly Mitt Romney has upset everyone in Britain by his remarks concerning the olympics. Was he off base? Not according to Piers Morgan who says everything Mitt Romney said was true.
Amazing, DOJ Won't Rule Out Criminalizing Free Speech
What seems like a fairly simple question,
“Will you tell us… that this administration’s Department of Justice will never entertain or advance a proposal that criminalizes speech against any religion?” is too deep for Tom Perez head of the civil right division of the DOJ. Why would Congressman Trent Franks ask such a question? Tom Perez, a former aide to the late Senator Ted Kennedy, has met with radical Muslim groups that advocate a Saudi style iteration of Sharia law that criminalizes the Islamic religion.
Occupy Cleveland Informant Enters Witness Protection
This blog, especially my partner, has linked the Occupy Wall Street movement to some pretty sinister organizations. The image that has been created and perpetuated by the popular media portraying the Occupy movement as idealistic kids concerned about social justice for the downtrodden 99 percent is spurious. Hint. Someone who run afoul of idealistic kids doesn't have to go into the federal witness protection program but the FBI informant of a plot to blow up a bridge in northern Ohio has done just that.
Shaquille Azir, a small time Cleveland hood has entered the witness protection program after being outed by The Smoking Gun. The Gun outed Azir after it cross-referenced the FBI affidavit with Cuyahoga County criminal records which is pretty shrewd for a new media organization. Threats to Azir continue from Occupy Cleveland sympathizers and those close to the alleged terrorists. At a protest outside a July 25 hearing, the mother of defendant Connor Stevens described the informant as “worse than a sexual predator” and suggested he should be killed. The apple doesn't fall far from the tree. Stevens and his four co-defendants are accused of plotting to blow up the Brecksville-Northfield High Level Bridge, which connects two upper-class Cleveland suburbs.
Obviously the trial judge thinks Azir has more to fear than Conner Stevens mother and the fact an informant is forced to flee does not suggest a movement of idealistic kids.

Ohio Issues Almost 300 Utica Drilling Permits
It's been sometime since I've written anything about drilling activity in Ohio's Utica Shale, a subject I consider to be the most important to Ohio's future in a hundred years. In summery the Ohio Division of Natural Resources' activity report shows that 297 horizontal wells have been permitted with 105 wells being drilled. Readers can view ODNR's data here. The top five counties are Carroll County with 99 wells permitted and 9 producing, Columbiana County, 47 permitted, 1 producing, Jefferson County 26 permitted, 0 producing. Harrison County, 24 permitted, 1 producing, Monroe County 16 permitted, 0 producing.
Production of the producing well is proprietary information and must be released by the driller but it appears the Utica boom is proceeding nicely.
Romney gaffe prone? I think not.
Wow. Imagine this.
You have a global event taking place in a city that has been ravaged by Islamists who have even claimed areas of London as Shariah zones. Recently a nefarious al Qaeda supporter (who was tagged as such, btw) was picked up for the fifth in the area of the global event.
In fact, the UK intelligence chief has said specifically that this global event would make a terribly inviting event.
Then it's announced on the news that, of the 1000 security guards privately hired to police the global event, only 2, TWO showed up.
And of the 2, TWO, one had to be let go because he was high.
And the Republican candidate for the president, who ten years ago pulled the Olympics together, makes a comment that perhaps the Brits aren't ready and it was a bit disconcerting.
What does the press do?
Gaffe prone Romney.
Romney insulted the Brits.
Horror (from a pol who said that citizens smell when wandering the Capitol.)
We take offense!
Can you find the security story anywhere? No. All you find is the "gaffe prone" Romney.
You know, the guy who said there were 57 states
And you didn't build your own business.
Yeah, that's the guy.
Why would anyone be worried when no one shows up for security at a global event.

House Dems Move to Seal Obama's Records
Maybe it should be called the Keeping Political Cronies Out of Jail Act but its sponsor, Congressman
Edolphous Towns of Brooklyn prefers
the Presidential Records Act Amendments of 2011. Evidently House Democrats worry that Obama will not survive the election so they would like to hide any embarrassing, unethical or criminal evidence. You can read the text of the bill here but it essentially allows Obama and future presidents a sort of lifetime executive privilege.
White House Misspells American
Scarey Fun With Numbers
If the number of Americans drawing Social Security disability each month was a state it would be the 12 twelfth largest state, using the old measure of 50 states instead of Obama's preferred 57. In June 8,753,935 Americans were drawing disability benefits. Only 11 states have larger populations. For the sake of comparison think of the entire states of Virginia, population 8,096,604 and Vermont, population 626,431, as being on disability. Scared yet?
Who cares what Chick Fil A founder said?
Antoine Dodson is an "internet sensation" who has spoken out in support of Chick-Fil-A. Of course, he's being criticized mercilessly, but somehow I suspect Antoine will not only survive the controversy but thrive.
And whatcha wanna make a bet he winds up on tv.
Here's Antoine. You might remember him. Twitchy has more.
Anyway, Volokh says it's illegal to keep a business out because you don't like their religion:

But denying a private business permits because of such speech by its owner is a blatant First Amendment violation. Even when it comes to government contracting — where the government is choosing how to spend government money — the government generally may not discriminate based on the contractor’s speech, see Board of County Commissioners v. Umbehr (1996). It is even clearer that the government may not make decisions about how people will be allowed to use their own property based on the speaker’s past speech. Not that our DOJ cares about Christians or white people.
Ohio's Contribution To Occupy Wall Street
Related to my partner's post about the organizations which support Occupy Wall Street I feel we would be remiss if we did not recognize Ohio Congresswoman Betty Sutton for her contributions to the decline of civil behavior and polite discourse. Her defenders will hasten to explain away her appearance at this early Occupy Wall Street rally with the usual lame excuse that she didn't know what she was doing. While that excuse may explain her voting record it does not excuse her participation in an organization everyone knew was a contrived and cynical attack on free capitalism.
Nepotism a Chronic Problem at DOJ
Who would have guessed the the Department of Justice had ethical problems? An inspector general report found 7 instances of nepotism. According to the IG’s report, in two separate instances a pair of employees, who worked in different sections of the DOJ, engaged in schemes to hire the other’s child. In another example, a DOJ employee tried to secure employment for his cousin and nephew. This is the third investigation in less than 10 years to find nepotism.
Tom Smith Gains Ground in Pennsylvania Senate Race
Tea Party founder and candidate for Senator from Pennsylvania, Tom Smith has gained ground it the latest Public Policy Polling (PPP) poll. Smith now trails Senator Bob Casey 46-36 better than PPP's last poll that showed him down 49-33. Again let me state Casey can be rolled. His approval rating is a mere 36%. This race will tighten as voters learn more about Smith. Presently only 36% of Pennsylvania voters know enough about Smith to form an opinion. In the same poll PPP found a 57% approval for the state's new photo ID law.
Anarchists, occupiers run wild in Anaheim
As we move into election season and Anaheim burns with anarchist hatred, let's not forget the organizations which support Occupy Wall Street.

Oddly, 2/3 of the protesters are from out of town, not Anaheim, home of Disneyland.
They're protesting gang related police shootings, claiming racism and police brutality.

Chick-Fil-A coming to Perrysburg
The construction going on in front of Kohls is, according to rumor, a Chick-Fil-A, known for their delicious chicken.
Now you might have heard the controversy about CFA's founder Dan Cathy's "controversial" words. What did he say that was so awful to the LGBT community?
Cathy also said:
But this is a hallmark of the left.
Intolerance, bigotry and narrow-mindedness. You aren't allowed to have opinions other than theirs, whatever politically correct opinion that is at the time. Christians can't have religious beliefs that offend them. Other religions, perhaps, but not Christians or Catholics.
In fact, politicians in progressive (usually crime ridden) cities are putting the kibosh on CFA's new restaurants, as in Chicago where "I the city alderman" gets to determine what's good for everyone. He says no to CFA:
Other politicians to block CFA are in Boston and Mountain View, Ca.
Yet even liberal rags like the LA Times and the Boston Globe question the wisdom of politicians' personal views prohibiting various commercial endeavors. From Radio.Foxnews:
A little fact that doesn't seem to matter, in the long run, to some of the most intolerant people in the United States.
Huckabee has declared August 1 Chick-Fil-A day. There is a CFA at Westfield Mall. Hours 9-9.
Closed Sundays.

Now you might have heard the controversy about CFA's founder Dan Cathy's "controversial" words. What did he say that was so awful to the LGBT community?
In an interview with the Biblical Recorder, he was asked about the company's fervent support of the traditional family. "Well, guilty as charged," he said. "We are very much supportive of the family — the biblical definition of the family unit. We are a family-owned business, a family-led business, and we are married to our first wives. We give God thanks for that."Yes, the terrible thing that he said was that he was supportive of the biblical definition of the family unit.
Cathy also said:
“I think we are inviting God’s judgment on our nation when we shake our fist at him and say, ‘We know better than you as to what constitutes a marriage,’” Cathy said. “I pray God’s mercy on our generation that has such a prideful, arrogant attitude to think that we would have the audacity to try to redefine what marriage is all about.”One might think it's a bit overreactive for the gay community to be so intolerant of the views of others, considering their whole campaign most often concerns tolerance of their own lifestyle.

Initially, I had some traffic concerns with their plan. But then I heard the bigoted, homophobic comments by Chick-fil-A President Dan Cathy, who recently came out against same-sex marriage.
There are consequences for one's actions, statements and beliefs. Because of this man's ignorance, I will deny Chick-fil-A a permit to open a restaurant in my ward.Indeed, the mayor of Chicago, where "more residents have been killed this year than troops in Afghanistan and where more than 5,000 people have been killed since 2001 as opposed to the 2000 troops killed in Afghanistan, has declared that "Chick-Fil-A's [Christian] values are not Chicago's values."
Other politicians to block CFA are in Boston and Mountain View, Ca.
Yet even liberal rags like the LA Times and the Boston Globe question the wisdom of politicians' personal views prohibiting various commercial endeavors. From Radio.Foxnews:
“Public officials have a responsibility to carry out their ministerial tasks fairly and evenhandedly – and to uphold the principle of free speech – whether or not they like a business executive’s social or political stances,” the Times opined.
The Boston Globe wondered “which part of the First Amendment does Menino not understand? A business owner’s political or religious beliefs should not be a test for the worthiness of his or her application for a business license.Others not quite so unreasonable are protesting the imposition of anti-religious rules on commerce, noting that CFA has never been accused of or found guilty of discrimination against gays.
A little fact that doesn't seem to matter, in the long run, to some of the most intolerant people in the United States.
Huckabee has declared August 1 Chick-Fil-A day. There is a CFA at Westfield Mall. Hours 9-9.

Voter Photo ID's Are Here to Stay Get Over it
Ed Rendell was on the Morning Joe show today bemoaning the dubious fact that 760,000 Pennsylvania inhabitants did not have a photo ID's and would therefore be unable to vote in the fall election. That upset poor Mika
Brzezinski who has been out of sorts lately either because only Mayor Bloomberg has called for anti-gun legislation or she is trying to cut back on the sauce. As much as my heart aches for Ed and Mika it really is time someone told them that voter ID laws are the law of the land. Quit moping kids. In 2008 the Supreme Court upheld Indiana's ID law which has served as a model for other states. While Eric Holder may be able to stall implementation in states covered by the Voting Rights Act of 1965, he has no authority to do so in the Keystone state. Unless the state court strikes it down Ed and his disenfranchised Democrats had better get their lazy butts to the DMV and get their pictures taken.
It's a source of pride to me that Indiana was the first state to enact voter ID legislation but it hasn't stopped voter registration fraud. Only the "largely nonexistent voter fraud" so dear to Mika, Ed, and Eric allowed Senators Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama on the Indiana ballot. Four Democratic are awaiting trial for largely nonexistent voter fraud in St. Joseph County. In retrospect I think the impetus for voter photo ID's came from that landmark piece of legislation, the Motor Voter bill. As long as the DMV is registering them, let them take their pictures and we won't have all this whining when someone tries to vote for his dead cat.
If Mika and Ed are upset Harold Meyerson of the Washington Post is so agitated he hardly makes sense but I suppose his readers are used to that. Meyerson envisions a scenario where Romney is elected by a thin margin, so thin that it equals the number of voters who could not vote because they were too lazy to get a valid ID. "If voter suppression goes forward and Romney narrowly prevails, consider the consequences. An overwhelmingly and increasingly white Republican Party, based in the South, will owe its power to discrimination against black and Latino voters, much like the old segregationist Dixiecrats."
And where did the Dixiecrats come from? They were Democrats. Meyerson like most Democrats never quite gets the history right or omits part of it. Yes, we know FDR began to desegregate the federal government albiet rather timidly but the omission is Woodrow Wilson was responsible for most of the segregation. Why the Republican party would be based in the south isn't clear either considering Indiana, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin are well north of the Mason Dixon line.
According to Meyerson if such an event did occur the United States would lose all moral standing in the world. Oh the high price of honest elections! The US would be the moral equivalent of pre Mandela South Africa. Thankfully Meyerson knows what to do.
"And what should Democrats do if Romney comes to power on the strength of racially suppressed votes? Such an outcome and such a presidency, I’d hope they contend, would be illegitimate — a betrayal of our laws and traditions, of our very essence as a democratic republic. Mass demonstrations would be in order. So would a congressional refusal to confirm any of Romney’s appointments. A presidency premised on a racist restriction of the franchise creates a political and constitutional crisis, and responding to it with resigned acceptance or inaction would negate America’s hard-won commitment to democracy and equality."
Obama is going to lose. Meyerson, Ed, and Mika are merely trying to provide him an excuse.

And Now, The Other Side of Mitt Romney
Aloof, wooden, and out of touch. Before you attribute these media driven traits to Mitt Romney read this post from Politicfact.
"In July 1996, the 14-year-old daughter of Robert Gay, a partner at Bain Capital, had disappeared," the story reads. "She had attended a rave party in New York City and gotten high on ecstasy. Three days later, her distraught father had no idea where she was. Romney took immediate action. He closed down the entire firm and asked all 30 partners and employees to fly to New York to help find Gay’s daughter. Romney set up a command center at the LaGuardia Marriott and hired a private detective firm to assist with the search. He established a toll-free number for tips, coordinating the effort with the NYPD, and went through his Rolodex and called everyone Bain did business with in New York and asked them to help find his friend’s missing daughter. Romney’s accountants at Price Waterhouse Cooper put up posters on street poles, while cashiers at a pharmacy owned by Bain put fliers in the bag of every shopper. Romney and the other Bain employees scoured every part of New York and talked with everyone they could – prostitutes, drug addicts – anyone.
"That day, their hunt made the evening news, which featured photos of the girl and the Bain employees searching for her. As a result, a teenage boy phoned in, asked if there was a reward, and then hung up abruptly. The NYPD traced the call to a home in New Jersey, where they found the girl in the basement, shivering and experiencing withdrawal symptoms from a massive ecstasy dose. Doctors later said the girl might not have survived another day. Romney’s former partner credits Mitt Romney with saving his daughter’s life, saying, ‘It was the most amazing thing, and I’ll never forget this to the day I die."
Adelson May Attend Romney Fundraiser in Jerusalem
Gee, thanks for dropping by, Shelly. Sheldon Adelson may attend the fundraiser for Mitt Romney at the King David Hotel in central Jerusalem. After spending $21 million dollars to defeat him Adelson has become Romney's top supporter. He has already donated $10 million to Romney's super Pac, Restore Our Future, and has hinted at $100 million or "whatever it takes" to defeat Obama. How's you fund raising going Mr. President?
Obama's Little Auschwitz
In a post Sunday I reported on vandalism in Connecticut nursing homes by striking employees who deliberately imperiled the lives of Alzheimer's patients. When the operator of the nursing homes asked for an investigation the state's Attorney General, in an obvious vassalage to the SEUI, refused to execute the duties of his office, placing his political loyalty to craven hoodlums above the legal demands of his office and the ethical dictates of his profession. Lest readers think that this incident is the nadir of bad results of governmental intrusion into health care it is dwarfed in comparison to heinous and inhuman treatment perpetrated on innocent life in Afghanistan.
The graphics viewed by the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform will remind some of the Life Magazine photos of Auschwitz they viewed as teenagers. This is after the government spent over $100 million on Dawood National Military Hospital in Afghanistan. Patient neglect continued for months after U.S. officials discovered it, as Afghan officials rebuffed American pressure to take action. When two US Army colonels asked for an inspector general investigation the were blocked by Lieutenant General William Caldwell because-and this sworn testimony- it was too close to the 2010 elections. Caldwell, who under a Bush administration would be patrolling the exercise yard at Leavenworth, noted that Obama called him Bill. Touching.
President FoodStamp has presided over the deliberate dissemination of national security secrets, the malfeasance and murder that was Fast and Furious and now Little Auschwitz and no one has lost his job but we should remember he has a lot on his plate.

You're not so smart! Others are smarter, more hard-working!
So Republicans say Obama, ala Joe the Plumber, inadvertently revealed himself when he said, "You didn't build that!" to small business owners. Dems/the MSM immediately leaped to Obama's defense by claiming the quote was taken out of context.
In fact, Obama himselfwhined complained explained today that he's not thin skinned but this manufactured outrage really takes the cake!
Here's what he said in context:
In addition, Romney also encouraged someone 10 years ago to remember the people (like parents) who helped them get where they are today.
Nowhere does CBS mention that the famous "roads and bridges" (and the pensions for those whose hands built them) Obama was supposedly referring to were paid with the tax dollars of the very entrepreneurs he mocked.
The Christian Science Monitor rushed in to say this:
There's more, but we'll leave it there.
Let's say this. Let's say he did mean "roads and bridges" when he cried, "You didn't build that!"
What about the context? How do you explain this?
Why would you, as president of the United States, denigrate the hard work and effort of anyone because someone else works hard too? Why wouldn't you encourage those hard workers, with words of support and friendliness?
These are the movers and shakers of the nation, after all.
And why, why, WHY would you think you're so all-knowing that you can criticize someone who probably DID work harder than everybody else by mocking them and diminishing their achievements.
Leave out the roads and bridges controversy.
This is contemptible language for a POTUS.
But it's typical language for a unionist and for someone who believes "From each according to his ability, to each according to his need."
In fact, Obama himself
Here's what he said in context:
"Look, if you've been successful, you didn't get there on your own. You didn't get there on your own. I'm always struck by people who think, well, it must be because I was just so smart. There are a lot of smart people out there. It must be because I worked harder than everybody else. Let me tell you something -- there are a whole bunch of hardworking people out there.
If you were successful, somebody along the line gave you some help. There was a great teacher somewhere in your life. Somebody helped to create this unbelievable American system that we have that allowed you to thrive. Somebody invested in roads and bridges. If you've got a business -- you didn't build that. Somebody else made that happen. The Internet didn't get invented on its own. Government research created the Internet so that all the companies could make money off the Internet."CBS explains that Obama didn't really mean that, and that the ad the Romney campaign put up revealed that the small business owner who appeared in it declaring that he had built the business on his own had received government loans, as if the borrower himself were not liable for those loans personally.
Examined in context, it’s pretty clear what the president was trying to say. As numerous media outlets have noted, it’s really a flubbed version of the famous Elizabeth Warren “there is nobody in this country who got rich on his own” speech that went viral last fall. Like Ms. Warren, Obama was making the argument that “wealthy, successful Americans” should pay a higher tax rate because they didn’t get to where they are without a lot of help from society. The line right before “you didn’t build that” was about roads and bridges – making it pretty clear that it was infrastructure the president was referring to, not businesses.
But the way it came out, it played right into the Romney campaign’s overall narrative about the president’s failure to understand how business and private enterprise work.Obama himself claims he didn't say what he said.
There's more, but we'll leave it there.
Let's say this. Let's say he did mean "roads and bridges" when he cried, "You didn't build that!"

Step away from the Twitterverse. Slowly step away.
We have mentioned before that we think the left is becoming increasingly unhinged. In many cases, the "unhingement" surfaces on Twitter, where it's easy to quickly post a thought that pops into your head.
Take, for example, the lovely, talented and lady-like Rosie O'Donnell.
Newsbusters has the details of a series of unbelievable tweets O'Donnell unleashed on the Twitterverse. Here's a portion. Text in bold emanates from the fragrant orifices of Ms. O'Donnell:
You can find the entire series of tweets here.
Recently Ellen Barkin also got kissy face with the public. Here's what she tweeted:
And we're supposed to go to your movies?
Nyet.
Twitchy's also covering the nightmare in Anaheim, which has gone several days with wildly insane rioting.
Then those wacky lefties have decided that it's racist that James Holmes isn't dead yet. Or if you think he's mentally ill, you're a racist. Or something like that.
But liberal nastiness in the face of tragedy is nothing new to the left.
Of course, by now it's no biggie when a politician blames racism if you support Romney.
On Obama, most of all.

"anyone who eats S--t Fil-A deserves to get the cancer that is sure to come from eating antibiotic filled tortured chickens 4Christ".
This came after she told the restaurant chain to suck an appendage she doesn't have:
Suck my dick chick filet- nazi chicken f---ing pricks
This outbreak of hate was retweeted by comedian Joe Rogan, who recently hosted a newfangled version of "Fear Factor" on NBC. Shortly after her get-cancer tweet, she doubled down:
“off to grab a s--it fil-A sandwich on my way to worshipping Christ, supporting Aipac and war in Iran.”And these people think YOU'RE an automaton! Just remember! You have to think like they do!

You might have heard about the Tony Robbins fire walking incident in which 21 people walked on coals and badly burned their feet, to great moans and groans.

My mother, who admittedly occasionally resorted to cliche to make her point, used to say, "So if they walked off a cliff, would ya FOLLOW 'em?"

Apparently the whole Obama civility speech was all for naught. On Obama, most of all.
Romney Surges in New Mexico
Usually we confine our reporting on political races to the midwest but this poll taken last week by left leaning PPP caught my eye. New Mexico was considered to be an Obama slam dunk and was marked dark blue on both Karl Rove's and Real Clear Politics electoral maps. The top line is Obama leads Romney by 5 points, much closer than a earlier poll done in April showing Obama to be leading by 14% but some of the details should cause bed wetting in the Obama camp. For instance;
"Mitt Romney appears to have closed much of the 14 point gap between
himself and President Obama that PPP measured in its last survey in April. Obama now
leads by only 5 points in the land of enchantment, 49% to 44%. This comes along with a
drastically reduced net approval rating for the president, down to even from a +9 mark 3 months ago. Romney’s favorability has seen a positive shift from an abysmal -22 rating
in that survey, and now stands at -9, 41% to 50%.
This change comes in spite of relatively level support for the president among
Independents at +9, compared to +11 from the April poll. Instead the movement comes
from a drop in the support he receives from within his own party. 21% of Democrats said
that they preferred Romney in the presidential race, up from 12% in April"
Why do 21% of Democrats prefer Romney? Obama scrapped existing immigration law to pander to this state and this is the thanks he gets. How did the new illegal immigration policy play with Hispanic voters? Well..... Obama leads by 22% but he led by 37% in the last poll. Overall 46% of voters disapprove of Obama's immigration policy while 41% support it.
If former Governor Gary Johnson, running as a Libertarian is put into the race it hurts Obama more than Romney. Then the breakdown would be; Obama 42% Romney 38%, and Johnson 13%. This means Obama must spend money he doesn't have to defend what was thought to be a safe state.
