More thoughts on Iott

As the internet continues to buzz about Rich Iott reenacting history as a Nazi, we might point out that incidents like this are going to be more common because people who are not professional politicians are running for office this year.
As Althouse says: a Nazi? a whore? an illegal alien boss? How much money has been on opposition research for these non-politicians running for office? Call 'em all kinds of names when you run out of mud. Dig up an offended former housekeeper, a picture here and there. Call names. Ugh. Scream that everything bad is the fault of the people who were in charge years ago and not your fault. It's ugly.
Professional politicians have spent years carefully crafting their images with consultants and public relations personnel. Does this mean they are honest, trustworthy and forthright? In fact, quite the opposite is true. Some of the lyin'est, cheatin'est bogus citizens in the US are currently ensconced in the Congress of the United States and THEY never reenacted history as anything.
Iott gave up history reenacting because his son lost interest in it after having reenacted as a Civil War soldier and a doughboy and more, not just a Nazi soldier. You don't hear any buzz about the doughboy, though, do ya. Whatever works to your advantage.
  Which is worse?
Someone who takes kickbacks and says with her mouth that she opposes abortion and then votes for it in a national health care plan? Or someone who enjoys historical reenacting with his son on weekends?
