The Obama campaign did not require any kind of check on the people who donated to their campaign. In fact, over $50,000 was given by two brothers in Gaza.
Now they are accusing the Chamber of Commerce of illegally contributing to politics with foreign donations. Yesterday they backed off their accusations, as even the NY Times pointed out there was no proof and it was just an accusation.
Today the WSJ has a report that democrats now have released the Department of Justice on businesses.
Since the Supreme Court's January decision in Citizens United v. FEC, Democrats in Congress have been trying to pass legislation to repeal the First Amendment for business, though not for unions. Having failed on that score, they're now turning to legal and political threats. Funny how all of this outrage never surfaced when the likes of Peter Lewis of Progressive insurance and George Soros helped to make Democrats financially dominant in 2006 and 2008.So let's get this straight. It's okay for unions to pour money into American campaigns. It's okay for Gazans to pour money into American campaigns. It's okay for leftwing groups to have free rein in setting the national agenda and spending money whichever way they want. It's okay to form groups like ACORN that corrupt the system with phony voter registrations AND votes.
But it's not okay for the little guy to get together with other little guys to speak their opinion on political issues.
It's not okay for businesses to express THEIR opinions on political issues that affect them.
It's not okay for the Koch brothers to run their business and express opinions without having the IRS down their throats.
Sound Nixonian to anyone?
But worse.
Much worse.
