The Kaptur ties to lobbyists have been percolating all summer but now the head of a notorious group that funneled money to democrat politicians is cooperating with the feds as he approaches his plea this Friday.
Swamp Bubbles has a round up of links regarding this issue. Here's a taste:
Rep. Marcy Kaptur's close ties to a corrupt "Pay to Play" earmark scandal surfaced again today, as the former head of a Washington D.C. lobbying firm - which lavished her with more than $140,000 in campaign donations - agreed to plead guilty to making hundreds of thousands of dollars in illegal contributions to congressional campaigns.Politico has the news on his cooperation:
Magliocchetti is now scheduled to enter his guilty plea on Sept. 24, and there is specualtion that he may assist prosecutors looking into how lawmakers awarded hundreds of millions in spending earmarks to defense contractors.Rich Iott's on top of it:
Campaign finance reports on file in Washington show that Magliocchetti, his family members, employees of the PMA Group, and their clients, have funneled a total of $143,800 to Marcy Kaptur. Kaptur has sponsored or supported tens of millions of dollars in earmarks to PMA clients, including Imaging Systems Technology of Toledo, which has won or has pending more than $16 million in earmarks sponsored by Kaptur.
On July 4, 2010, the New York Times reported on Kaptur’s efforts to steer earmarks to IST, a PMA client which makes materials for bullet proof vests they hope to one day sell back to the government for use by the Pentagon. The Pentagon has so far declined to buy more than a few of the vests that they have used in evaluations.
