Bye, bye, Dennis; bye, bye, Newt

Win one for the good guys! Home health care workers in Michigan have slammed the unionists in the face. NRTW:
Lansing, MI (May 11, 2011) – With free legal assistance from the National Right to Work Foundation, five homecare workers have reached a settlement with Governor Rick Snyder ensuring that Michigan will no longer be able to force home-based childcare providers into union ranks.
This was a particularly outrageous grab for power, forcing those who care in their homes for children into paying dues for something they didn't want.

Then there's the rather horrifying account of the purpose of the smart grid which we've been hearing about recently.
It always starts with some altruistic motive, some vague notion of making life better for everyone. Fairness is usually part of the equation. Government is here to help.
Yet somehow these things, Republican or Democrat, always evolve into more control over our lives, choking and squeezing the liberties of the lives of millions of people.
In truth, liberals are among the most intolerant, controlling individuals in American culture, as evidenced by the desire to control diet, money, health care, taxes, business and now our electricity.
POedPatriot has the details, verification links embedded:
The Smart Grid is being sold as a modernization of the power grid which includes a distribution system that will contain a two way communicationbetween your home and the utility company. This communication system will allow 'Demand Response Appliances' (the creation of which is being spearheaded by GE) the ability to 'talk' to the utility company and inform them of it's energy use, time of operation and function. Demand Response Appliances also allow the Utility company the ability to shut them off during times of Peak Energy use in order to cut down on the demand of the power grid, thereby reducing the need for rolling blackouts.
Why does the government need to monitor my crushed ice? And how about my carbon footprint?
If we're monitoring, control and extra "fees" are just down the road.
The good news is that Illinois, yes, THAT Illinois, has walked away from even participating in this mockery:
I never thought I would say this about the Great Communist State of Illinois, but they are actually doing something right for a change.
According to an article on The Telegraph.com, the Attorney General of Illinois, Lisa Madagin, walked away from the Negotiating tables with the utility companies and refused to support the current Smart Grid legislation in Illinois Legislature:
The bad news is that they're far enough along on the plans that they're sitting down at the table with the states. The other bad news is this: why are we reading about this monstrous takeover on blogs and English newspaper websites?

Powerline has the scoop on the number and type of jobs that have been lost because of the stimulus.
So the American people borrowed and spent close to a trillion dollars to destroy a net of more than one-half million jobs. Does President Obama understand this? I very much doubt it. When he expressed puzzlement at the idea that the stimulus money may not have been well-spent, and said that "spending equals stimulus," he betrayed a shocking level of economic ignorance.
In fact, this administration has so ignored the creation of jobs (other than government) that Ohio has suffered more than other states.
Is Ohio lost to Obama next year? Read at Pittsburgh Live.

Here in Northwest Ohio, we're sad to learn that the elf-like Kucinich is considering moving to another state because we've lost a seat and it just happens to be Cleveland's.
It's encouraging to know, however, that the elf-like Kucinich values his House seat more than his affiliation to Northeast Ohio, as he's considering his option to move to another state where he thinks he can actually win a seat.
  It's been real, Dennis.

Speaking of traitors, does Newt honestly think Democrats want him as president? Because that appears to be the base he's singing to by ripping on Paul Ryan, whose budget it the only credible one put forward by just about anyone. Newt thinks it goes too far and is too big. Newt sorta likes obamacare.
  Newt, Newt, Newt.
  I don't think so. NRO.

Are you still seething that this administration sent people and equipment to Mexico to help with their fires but refused to do so for our own country, Texas, no doubt because they haven't celebrated his election in a very blue way?
Oh, and BTW, some of the fires were started by federal employees, who have a corner on stupid.
Federal employees started one of the devastating fires in West Texas recently but, the Obama Administration still won’t declare the region a disaster area despite the fact that 2.5 million acres have been burned.
While Obama jokes about the insecurity of the border, Arizonans seethe, along with Texas and Ohio.

Heh.
