Republicans open up huge lead among Colorado early voters

If the early voting trend in Colorado holds the Democrats are apt to experience a feeling of 2010 deja vu which could escalate into full blown PTSD. Historically Republicans have been more apt to vote early in Colorado but have never built up the size of lead they now hold. With about half of the mail in ballots in the Republicans have built up a 9 point lead, leading Democrats 41% to 32%. Independents represent about 25% of the 1.1 million returned ballots.
In addition to sending Cory Gardner to the senate this lead probably sends Governor John Hickenlooper into early retirement. It should also assure 2010 Tea Party candidate Ken Buck a win in his quest for the 4th congressional seat.
