Only 37% Think Sen. Pryor Deserves Another Term

Congressman Joe Cotton, who has yet to formally announce his candidacy for Senator from Arkansas, has to be pleased with the results of a Magellan Strategies poll released today. The poll finds that only 37% of likely mid term voters think Senator Mark Pryor deserves to be reelected. Forty seven percent think it's time to show Pryor the door. This is beginning to look like 2010 when Arkansas voters turned out Blanche Lincoln rather brutally. As one pundit explained Arkansas politics, the state did not follow most other southern states into the Republican camp largely because of Bill Clinton who held considerable clout in the state long after he has elected president. Lately, as Clinton has lost some of his personal appeal, Arkansas is behaving pretty much like any other southern state.
Pryor has voted for the intolerable acts, the 2009 stimulus bill, Obamacare, and the Gang of Eight's immigration reform and soon it will be time to face the voters. Incidentally, in her last hurrah Blanche Lincoln carried just 37% of the vote, the same number who presently favor Pryor's reelection.
