After all these years living with the Obama nightmare, I think it's finally sunk through my thick skull that Obama doesn't care about optics or the average American.
He doesn't care what kind of impression he makes.
He doesn't care about doing what's best for the country and he CERTAINLY doesn't care about anyone who doesn't share his ideological bent.
Of course, I keep blogging that he's a narcissist, something he proves day after day, the latest being his insistence on closing the White House to the public while splurging on flying all over the country to do appearances on Leno and vaca in hoity toity land.
But taking numerous luxurious vacations are par for the course for the Obamas.
(That appearance on Leno is estimated to have cost well over $2 million, considering fuel was $1.8 and numerous other jaunts and personnel were part of the trip.)
Maybe it's because most other politicians at least pretend they care about the little people, so naturally you expect a president, even one who absurdly claims to "lead from behind," will pretend to care about everyone in the nation.
Instead, this popinjay has made it quite clear day after day that he really doesn't. That unless you worship him, he can't tolerate you, in fact he might even sic government agencies on you to keep you in your place.
That's why, presumably, he can go on Leno and lie to your face, claiming no one's spying on the average American and no one should be concerned about anything the government is up to these days, even while behind the scenes his administration was "screaming" at the IRS to "do something" about the fact that Tea Partiers were united before the 2010 elections.
Yet, even while Nancy Pelosi and her ilk were parading in front of the cameras, claiming that the Tea Parties were "astroturf" funded by shadowy right wing forces, the force of government agencies was being applied to those
And frankly, it worked.
People who oppose Obama continue to be overwhelmed.
Obama's thrown so much at this country that most of us are frozen, upset and concerned at the direction of the country. The very essence of Alinsky's Rules for Radicals at work.
It appears to me that Obama's influence is winding down. He's an absurd parody of himself, strutting and chiding, bellowing insults and bald faced (too obvious) lies, claiming to be focused (like a laser?) on the economy even while mocking the fools who want to build a pipeline to create energy independence and thousands of jobs.
Sure, the bots are still buying his line of baloney but the frantic calls to late night talk radio supporting him blindly have diminished.
And oddly, the particular impetus for this downward spiral appears to be Obama's prized legislation, deceptively and outrageously passed in the middle of the night.
Obamacare, which bears his name.
People hate it.
And they're working, scrambling in numerous ways, to overturn the legislation in its many complex forms.
One can sense that something has turned the last week.
Maybe it's the unions--including the IRS union-- protesting Obamacare.
Maybe it's Howard Dean's stated uneasiness with the unelected, unaccountable death panels Sarah Palin decried years earlier.
Maybe it's the black leaders--both Democrat & conservative--calling on Paul Ryan to reject the Leftist amnesty plan.
Maybe it's the comedians finally realizing what great fodder Obama provides in the way of material.
Or maybe, just maybe, it's Congress whining to Obama that they and their aides need to be exempted from the legislation they so eagerly put into place for the rest of us. It's outrageous.
They really, really went over the line on that one and as the impact of this monstrous law continues to degrade our system and economy (ninety percent of new jobs created are part time??), the popularity of the people who created the monster continues to decline.
Well worth reading, Victor Davis Hansen over at PJ Media smartly puts Obama into historical perspective:
Critics of the president are convinced that Barack Obama will do lasting damage to the U.S. I doubt it.
Obama came to power in the third year of large Democratic congressional majorities. In his first referendum, he lost the House and he may soon lose the Senate; in other words, there followed a somewhat normal reaction against a majority party. Obama’s popularity rating is well below 50%, despite an obsequious media and a brilliantly negative billion-dollar campaign that long ago turned Mitt Romney into a veritable elevator-using, equestrian-marrying, canine-hating monster.
In the second term, there is little of the Obama bully pulpit left. “Make no mistake about it” and “let me be perfectly clear” can incur caricature, not fainting. “Really,” “I’m not kidding,” “I’m serious,” “in point of fact,” and “I’m not making this up” often prove rhetorical hints that the opposite is true. When Obama warns about gridlock in Washington, the “same old tired politics,” the dangers of a tyrant or king in the White House, the need for an honest IRS, or the perils of government surveillance, these admonitions have tragically become a psychological tic to warn us about himself.Read the whole thing. This single man is destroying Leftism in this country, exposing it for the decrepit freak show that it is. Its politics and ideas are corrupt, destructive and evil.
Even Democrats know that.
My brother argues that Nixon turned many contested states permanently blue and that's the test he uses for a really bad president. I would give Obama credit for turning West Virginia and Louisiana from blue to red. In both cases it was over energy rather than more general issues that effect all states. I admit West Virginia has a Democratic governor and two Democratic senators but it can't field a credible candidate to replace Rockefeller. Louisiana still has Mary Landriu but she is the only Democrat to hold statewide office. The Republicans control both legislative bodies, something they haven't done since the 1880's. The funny thing here is that by registration the Democrats are still the majority party by some 400,000 voters.
ReplyDeleteArkansas and Kentucky are trending red but I'm not sure if that's Obama's doings or just the solid south turning red with Kentucky and Arkansas as the last to do so. As trust in government declines the party of government will pay the price. On the federal level things seem to have really gone to hell on Obama's watch and Obamacare rather than Obama might be the nail in the coffin.
On the international level, things seem to have really gone to hell also, something that many Americans choose to ignore. That's a tough one to ignore.
ReplyDeleteIt'd be nice if some of the conservative politicians out there could actually ARTICULATE a reasonable --even firey--intellectual response (ala Newt) to counter Leftist lies.
But noooo. The stupid party remains in the thralls of the simpering country club RINOs.
I contend our bench is deep though, far deeper than the Democrat bench.
