Newt Is All In For Todd Akin

Back in August I asked on this blog Is Akin That Bad? . In that post I posed the possibility that Todd Akin would not withdraw from the Missouri senate race. Today that possibility became reality as the deadline for Akin's withdrawal has come and gone. So will the GOP cede a seat that may be essential to controlling the senate and repealing Obamacare?
Immediately after the "legitimate rape" issue PPP, a Democratic poll, found Akin to still be leading by a single point. Considering the polling firm's ties to the Democratic party the poll is suspect, probably a ruse to get the Gop to back a hopelessly flawed candidate. A later Rasmussen poll found Akin down by 6 points 49% to 43%. As bad as Akin may have seemed at the time McCaskill still couldn't get to 50%. So after Paul Ryan called on him to quit and RNC chair Reince Priebus promised he wouldn't get a dime from the party Todd Akin is standing pat and he is attracting support from Newt Gingrich and Republican rebel Jim DeMint.
Today Newt Gingrich remarked that if saying dumb things disqualified one from holding office Biden couldn't be Vice President. This video is a little long but most of it is vintage Gingrich. It's both informative and entertaining.
