The Chink In ESPN's Armor

This is political correctness gone crazy. Granted we all depend too much on cliches since they allow us to write or speak without too much thought and if one is mentally agile enough to choose his cliches well, to exude an air of profundity and wit. The trouble with this verbal speed writing is one does not have time to reflect on exactly what one is saying. Jeremy Lin is unspoiled, intelligent, and athletically gifted and is probably embarrassed by ESPN's dismissal of a headline writer and the thirty day suspension of this anchor. He doesn't have a chink in his armor. For the record, the anchor, Max Bretos, is married to an Asian woman.

  1. It's pretty bad when we have to get down to the "My wife is Asian" defense. What the broadcaster had the misfortune of having, say, a Black wife? Or even, gasp, a WHITE wife?
