Chu: Volt wildly popular

On the Frank Beckmann show this morning, Frank was wondering how Steven Chu could be so out of touch with the American public in Chu's comments at the Detroit Auto Show yesterday.
Chu, who previously said, "If it were up to me, I would put every cent into electric cars," claimed yesterday that the Volt is "wildly popular" with the American people.
Chu believes many more people will be buying Volts. Why? Because when he met with all his friends, he asked who was going to be buying an electric or hybrid vehicle in the next five years and almost of them raised their hands. Except for one out of touch dude.
  So there you have it.
  Government research.
UPDATE: That was Ray LaHood who said that about the "wildly popular Volt. Chu is the research expert, LaHood the popularity expert.
