New Polling Data

You will undoubtedly hear that Obama is underwater in the latest CNN poll with by a 44 percent of approval and a 54 percent disapproval rating . That headline looks bad but when one reads the entire poll things go from bad to worse in a hurry. For instance;
Which of the following is the most important issue facing the country today? Sixty percent selected the economy and another 16 percent say the deficit. How does Obama do on those two issues. By an identical vote of 34 to 64 percent on both the deficit and the economy Obama loses with only 34 percent approval on the two most important issues facing the respondents.

Turning to the Rasmussen poll released today, only 17 percent of the respondents think this government has the consent of the governed. To put it another way, less than 1 in 5 Americans believe what Washington acts in the interest of the American people. Obama does do better than the Congress which get a positive rating of just 6 percent of the public. Obama gets a 46 percent approval rating overall but when asked to choose strongly approve or strongly disapprove Obama has 22 percent strong approval compared to 40 percent who strongly disapprove.

Elsewhere Rasmussen finds Michele Bachmann leading in Iowa with 22 percent, Romney with 21 percent and Ron Paul with 16 percent. Undeclared Rick Perry gets 12 percent.
