Seven seismologists are charged with manslaughter for failing to give adequate warning before the 6.3 magnitude earthquake that hit the city of L'Aquila in 2009. Minor tremors had occurred prior to the disastrous quake and the seismologists when asked to speculate on the probability of a major quake gave "gave inexact, incomplete and contradictory information".
