In the past, only a few times has the movie industry depicted the Bible well. I remember one mini-series called "Jacob and Esau" that had great production values and wasn't Hollywood-ified. One Hollywood critic called the dialogue boring and weak. Of course, you could expect a lame review like that from Hollywood because the dialogue was taken directly from the Bible....word for word. Of course, a Hollywooder wouldn't "get" that.
Roma Downey is responsible for this series to be shown on the History Channel starting March 3. You'll remember her from the Touched by an Angel series.
This series, I have to say, looks absolutely amazing. I WILL BE WATCHING.
