Gingrich Drew $600,000 From Ethanol Lobbyist

Energy Growth is a major ethanol lobbying group. It originally reported that it had paid Newt Gingrich $312,000 but has now revised that number upward to $600,000. He remained on their payroll for the first few months of this year.
Gingrich was paid to offer advice on “strategy and communication issues” and to “speak positively on ethanol related topics to the media.” Does everybody have that straight? Newt was not a lobbyist. He was a consultant working for a lobbyist. And it just keeps getting better! From a Wall Street Journal article, Professor Cornpone;

The former Speaker blew through Des Moines last Tuesday for the Renewable Fuels Association summit, and his keynote speech to the ethanol lobby was as pious a tribute to the fuel made from corn and tax dollars as we've ever heard. Mr. Gingrich explained that "the big-city attacks" on ethanol subsidies are really attempts to deny prosperity to rural America, adding that "Obviously big urban newspapers want to kill it because it's working, and you wonder, 'What are their values?'"
Big urban newspapers are not the only ones wanting to kill ethanol. House Republicans have attempted to end this green energy boondoggle and having a prominent Republican "consultant" on the side of the Obama administration has not made that task easier. You won't hear the other Republican candidates making much of this until the Iowa caucuses are behind them. Iowa is the wrong state to campaign against corn but we will surely be hearing more on this later. The former Speaker is very much a Washington insider. What are his values?

  1. Abortion is fine if it is from rape why make a woman relive such a thing cause u wont let her free herself to heal? Plus it isn't a child in first 3 mo! And a woman can and should have the right to choose her life over a baby if she could die from having it! My body my choice! Stay out of my body!

  2. Not sure what all this abortion comment has to do with the topic at hand, but what the heck. Do you think abortion is FINE for the BABY? It IS a child in the first 3 months. Have you ever seen a 3 month fetus? Have you ever heard the heartbeat at the 8 week gestation period? It's definitely a baby and it's definitely alive and it's definitely human. The whole rape argument is a canard, anyway, considering that so few pregnancies are a result of rape or illness.

    My body my choice BAH!

    Anyone ever tell you what happens to the WOMAN after abortion? The effects are longlasting: psychological, physical and spiritual.

    And the baby. The baby.

  3. why should the government tell women what to do, is it because you believe are not smart enough to make intelligent decisions?
    the issue most people have above abortion is that anti choice people oppose sex education, choosing ignorance over enlightenment.
    lastly show me one man who has had an abortion? so as a man I should really have no say
    now.. imagine if the proposed bill for anti choice contained language that said it was illegal for men to commit adultery or get divorced because obviously men cannot make an intelligent decision on this matter.
