By virtue of the fact that conservatives have standards by which they live-- oh, like parental control over their own children including teaching sexual standards, loyalty to spouses, avoiding the overuse of stimulants, earning your own way in the world, fiscal conservatism--liberals are quick to claim that conservatives/Republicans are hypocrites if they do not live up to their own standards or prove themselves to be all too human.
By contrast, liberals often do not have any standards by which they live: therefore they feel free to criticize anything others do without holding themselves accountable for just about anything.
A good example of this double standard is the blowhard Ed Schulz (Lean Forward), who is calling for "decency" controls for conservative commentators, but not for himself, Olbermann, Randi Rhodes, Malloy.... From The Blaze:
