So called Tea Party gubernatorial candidate Joe Visconti has dropped out of the race and endorsed the Republican candidate Tom Foley. I have regarded Visconti as a selfish opportunist and am pleased to be wrong. When push came to shove Visconti showed more class than I gave him credit for possessing. “This is a dogfight and I couldn’t let Gov. Malloy win. If I can’t be governor, I want to help Tom be governor,” Visconti said.
Visconti was polling at 7% in the latest Quinnipiac University poll and his departure should give Foley a slight edge over Dan Malloy, arguably the worst governor in 50 states.
