To her credit Grimes has run a competitive race despite a 2 to 1 fund raising gap. The latest data from Open Secrets shows Grimes has raised $11,353,760 to McConnell's $23,725,569. Most of McConnell's contributions come from New York while Grimes' money comes from California.
