Alison Lundergan Grimes; the first casualty in the war on coal
A Rasmussen poll released May 28 puts Senator Mitch McConnell 7 points ahead of Democratic challenger Kentucky Secretary of State Alison Lundergan Grimes. One senses the Ipana smile is strictly for public consumption. The rollout of the EPA's new anti coal regulation has probably gutted the campaign of Kentucky's most photogenic lawyer. It gets worse. To keep her campaign funded Grimes will travel to Washington Thursday for a fund raiser with Mr. Cap&Trade Himself, Harry Reid.
“Alison is absolutely livid about the new rule and plans to use the event to share the stories of how Kentuckians are hurting and demand that the Senate take action to invest in clean coal technology,” said Grimes spokeswoman Charly Norton.
Sure she will. And she can tell Harry if she is elected not to expect her to be part of any phony, all night, filibusters on global warming the next time Tom Steyer flashes $50 million.
No doubt Grimes is genuinely livid and she should be but like it or not Kentucky coal is not part of her party's plans for the future. She is expendable. For all Obama and Harry Reid care she could be hopping cars at the Lexington Sonic.
