No Obamacare is not suddenly popular

No, Obamacare did not suddenly become more popular. It is not an overnight success. The morning talk show hosts are gushing with the grand news that Obamacare has at last found its way into the American public's hard heart. "Now that people have seen it they realize it's a good thing and not just government in my pocket" seems to today's conventional thinking. Yes, it survived the trial by fire ordeal.
The false premise for all this glowing rhetoric is the latest poll from ABC News/Wash Post. That poll, when compared to other recent polls shows a vast upsurge in support for Obamacare. Among registered voters only 2 percent more oppose Obamacare than support it. When one compares this poll to past ABC News/Wash Post polls it's obvious to all that it's an outlier. In a poll conducted January 20 -23 of this year by the same organization produced about the same results; 47% in favor 48% opposed. A Fox News poll conducted about the same time produced dramatically different results; 36% in favor and 59% opposed. Both polls were of registered voters. To see all polling on Obamacare go here and notice Obamacare almost consistently does better in the ABC/Wash Post poll than any other contemporaneous polling.
Maybe it because they never mention it by name. The poll never asks about the ACA or Obamacare but rather asks this bland and less than precise question.
"Overall, do you support or oppose the federal law making changes to the health care system?"
To get the right answers you have to ask the right questions.
