Sen. Mike Lee Pushes to Defund Obamacare as Support Among Moderate Democrats Implodes

I doubt if they saw this coming and as Joe Biden would say "this is a big freaking deal".

Support for Obamacare among self identified moderate Democrats has imploded as the implementation nears. Party pundits of both persuasions are always wont to explain to us who are ill informed that the votes are in the middle. As in moderate? The Post tries to spin this as inconsequential.
Politically, the downward shift among moderate and conservative Democrats may be inconsequential. Senate Democrats have ignored more than three dozen House Republicans efforts to repeal the law, and even if they lost control of the chamber in the 2014 midterm elections Obama would surely veto any attempt to undo his signature legislative achievement.
Lost in that argument is the fact that many House and Senate Democrats feel very strongly about keeping their careers. Senator Mike Lee is ramping up a campaign to defund Obamacare at the end of the fiscal year when both houses must vote on a continuing resolution. Lee has already lined up 15 Republicans, needing at least 40 on the Senate side. Lee plans a government shutdown until Obamacare is defunded and polls showing diminishing support for Obamacare among Democrats makes it easier for Republicans to oppose it.

I was thinking this would be a great time for Obama to pivot to talking about the economy.
