(The c-Span phone app was most helpful, as I could listen to the audio while still working in the yard, plus the app carries live audio for all 3 c-Span channels.)
Several Dems uttered the caveat that "what happened to you was wrong" because it was "foolish" and a "mistake" before slamming the citizen patriots for even being involved in the political process.
Let's remind ourselves that NAACP, the ACLU and the AARP are all 501c4s. Interesting that suddenly "objective" "news" organizations are suddenly suspicious of who should have such status. AND Obama's Organizing for America??
It was especially rich when McDermott snootily claimed it was the government's obligation to be wary of how they spend the taxpayers' money. O.M.G.
This after all the billions of dollars that are spent foolishly, including studying why lesbians are fat, how to get Chinese prostitutes to stop excessive drinking, creating Star Wars "parodies" and luxury vacations for numerous governmental agencies.
Once again, I have to agree with Peggy Noonan in the WSJ, who writes that this scandal is far worse than Watergate, no matter what Tom Brokaw says:
n previous IRS scandals it was the powerful abusing the powerful—a White House moving against prominent financial or journalistic figures who, because of their own particular status or the machineries at their disposal, could pretty much take care of themselves. A scandal erupts, there are headlines, and then people go on their way. The dreadful thing about this scandal, what makes it ominous, is that this is the elites versus regular citizens. It’s the mighty versus normal people. It’s the all-powerful directors of the administrative state training their eyes and moving on uppity and relatively undefended Americans. That’s what makes this scandal different, and why if it’s not stopped now it will never stop. And, yes, this is the way it goes and the reason the Tea Party sprang into existence in the first place. It's the rise of The Ruling Class whose unbelievable arrogance has been on display during these hearings.
You know. The Ruling Class who sits in air conditioned comfort and complains about the perspiration soaked visitors in the Rotunda.
Watch The Blaze's rundown on the highlights of the hearing here.
Yeah, it looks like it's time to go to D.C. again. Tea Party groups need to give more time to organize though for the working stiffs. ( You know, the ones who stink because they work so hard.) Otherwise it looks like support is slim.
But we'll see.
Americans need to unite on this.
