Obama Calls Jeremiah Wright

Why does this not surprise me? In his column former Speaker of the California Assembly Willie Brown writes that recent polling has forced Obama to do some fence mending with his old pastor Jeremiah Wright. The reverend participated in a conference call hosted by Obama with black preachers to get out the vote. Brown writes,
By my estimate, you have to build in a three- to five-point slip from the poll numbers for any black candidate on election day. To overcome the slip, you need to pump up the black vote by equal measure.
And that's not easy, because brothers and sisters aren't among the top turnout groups....
If Obama looks as if he's going black, he could turn off white people. So he's largely been lying low on the race issues - visibly pushing for the Latino vote, the gay vote, the women's vote, but not the black vote.
So Obama needs to mobilize the black vote while pretending to be president of all the people so it's up to Wright and other black preachers to get out the black vote. So much for the separation of church and state when a Democrat's job is on the line. The media hasn't dwelt on that three to five point slip Brown says black candidates experience. It's probably not important.
