Electing Obama Could End Drilling in Ohio and Pennsylvania

Ohio and Pennsylvania have enjoyed a bit of a boom in recent years, at least compared to the rest of the country. Much of this boom is attributable to the discovery of the Marcellus and Utica shale formations and the gas and oil they hold. Obama has tried to capitalize on this boom, citing his economic policies and in particular the Chrysler and GM bailouts. In truth the auto industry in Ohio is down about 50,000 jobs and the boom is the result of gains made in other sectors of the economy notably the exploration and production of natural gas and oil from the Utica Shale. By electing Obama Ohio and Pennsylvania would jeopardize their relative prosperity if his EPA strangles new energy production.
