Utica Has Already Created 8,000 Jobs

With little fanfare and without monthly visits from Obama the drilling industry has quietly created 8,000 permanent jobs in Ohio over the last year. Many of those jobs are in the 6 figure range. That's the word coming from the Youngstown Ohio Utica & Natural Gas, or Y.O.U.N.G., expo. Speakers note that the Utica play is in its infancy but the oil and gas industry has invested $816 million.
V&M Star's payroll is up 42% at its new rolling mill in Youngstown as the company strains to meet demand for drilling pipe.

In other news two midstream plants are being built in Columbiana and Harrison counties will handle much of the need for fractionation initially within the Utica Shale, The two plants represent a $900 million investment for Chesapeake, M3 Midstream Energy Company and EV Energy Partners.
