Most chess grand masters are pretty forgettable people so excuse me when I say I have forgotten the gentleman's name. He was being interviewed by a chess publication when he confessed he really didn't like a particular defense he frequently played. Then why play it? asked the interviewer. Because it's good enough to win with was the reply. That pretty much sums up my feeling about Todd Akin. He is good enough to win with and now he is getting help not only from Newt Gingrich as I previously blogged but also from Senators Jim DeMint, Lindsey Graham, Jim Inhofe, and Tom Coburn, who will be honorary hosts of a Washington fundraiser next week for Akin. Hey! if he good enough for Jim DeMint he good enough for me.
Former Missouri Republican Senator Kit Bond is also supporting Akin as is sitting Missouri Senator Roy Blunt. It appears that everyone is on board with the exception of Senator John Cornyn who chairs the National Republican Senatorial Committee and RNC Chairman Reince Priebus who apparently would rather not control the senate. Akin is going to win this race!
