It Takes a Village to Sell a Volt
Yes, it takes a whole village to sell a Chevy Volt. It also takes $10.4 million in green energy grants from the Department of Energy. General Motors and OnStar have joined a partnership called Pecan Street Inc. It really is just what the country needed, a subsidized upscale subdivision for photogenic yuppies. GM says the community will be home to "the greatest concentration of Chevrolet Volts in the world". Wow! What higher compliment could one give a community?
So what does citizenship in Chevy Voltville mean? It means according to GM delivering "reliable and affordable energy to a growing population" and "possibly eliminate the need to construct polluting power plants." It also means an additional $7500 rebate in addition to the $7500 tax credit if one chooses to buy a Volt and a $3000 rebate if one decides to lease. Something about the video reminds me of the Stepford Wives but the the residents of Mueller, Texas who volunteered to participate in this boondoggle like to call themselves pioneers.
Readers should note there is no lack of self-esteem here.
