Utica Drilling Continues at Rapid Pace

Despite the steep decline in natural gas prices drilling in Ohio's Utica Shale is continuing at a rapid pace. A county by county breakdown of drilling permits issued in June by the ODNR shows Carroll and Columbiana counties both received 8 permits each. Harrison county was issued 7, Noble county 5. Belmont and Guernsey counties were each issued 3 permits. Mahoning county and Jefferson Counties were issued 1 each.

According to the ODNR web site, a total of 273 Utica shale well permits have been issued. A total of 78 wells have been drilled and 16 are waiting to be fracked. In addition, there are 14 wells reported in the fracking process or have crews on site getting ready to frack. Presently Ohio's Utica has 10 producing wells.
