The last defense against tyranny

While it appears no gun control laws are in our near future because of bi-partisan distaste for another hot topic, who knows what "executive order" will be issued if this president, whose early ties to Communist sympathizers are clear, gets another term?
The media and leftists have repeatedly tried to blame the Tea Party for non-existent violence, even going to the extent of manufacturing evidence.
The rapper Ice-T (Tracy Marrow) revealed that he not only knows about the Constitution, but carries a gun; he has a from my cold dead hands mentality. Newsbusters:

MARROW: Doesn't that make sense? I mean if there were guns here, would you want to be the only person without one?
GURU-MURTHY: So do you carry guns routinely? Do you have a gun at home?
MARROW: Yeah, it's legal in the United States. It's part of our constitution. You know, the right to bear arms, it's becausethat’s the last form of defense against tyranny. Not to hunt. It’s to protect yourself from the police.
GURU-MURTHY: And do you see any link between that and these sorts of instances?
MARROW: No. Not really, if you know what I'm saying. If somebody really wants to kill people, they don’t need a gun to do it.
Unlike the hypocrisy of David Brock and Rosie O'Donnell, who decried the lack of gun control in America even while her own bodyguard carried, Ice-T has the courage to speak up.
Gun control laws do nothing to prevent crime. All they do is provide the shooter with easy targets. Take a look at the gun controlled city of Chicago's shootings for one weekend.
Apparently those persons who were WITHOUT guns at the Aurora theater last week had to suffer the consequences of Aurora's strict gun laws, which forbid carrying a weapon even in your car.
Some are asking if this means that if someone had had a gun and shot Holmes, would that hero have been charged him/herself with a crime? After all, the Aurora law says it is illegal to discharge a weapon unless you're a police officer.
Consider that Holmes's crime took two minutes.
How long does it take the police to respond to an SOS?
In these days of fat pensions for retirees (thanks for shooting down Issue 2, Ohio) which will result eventually in fewer cops on the street, what happens in a small town if Black Bloc OWS creeps emerge in groups?
Or flash mobs like the ones we've seen all over the country?
So guns are forbidden in Aurora.
  Did that stop James Holmes?
Again, criminals and psychos don't appear to like abiding by the law.
The men who took great risk and lost much knew that when the citizens of a country are dependent on a government for all their needs, including the restriction of various rights, they become both helpless and hapless when the government becomes swollen with its own power and importance:
From the Declaration, some complaints against George III:
He has erected a multitude of New Offices, and sent hither swarms of Officers to harrass our people, and eat out their substance.
He has kept among us, in times of peace, Standing Armies without the Consent of our legislatures. He has affected to render the Military independent of and superior to the Civil power.
He has combined with others to subject us to a jurisdiction foreign to our constitution, and unacknowledged by our laws; giving his Assent to their Acts of pretended Legislation:For Quartering large bodies of armed troops among us:
They had experienced the very things which concern today's citizens.
Wayne Allen Root poses the problems of gun controlhere in an article well worth reading:

First, banning or drastically limiting access to guns never stops criminals from obtaining guns. Drugs are banned in this country, yet they are everywhere. We can’t even keep drugs out of prison. If you ban guns, it doesn’t stop a single criminal or madman from getting them on the black market. It only prevents law-abiding citizens and business owners from defending themselves. Honest law-abiding Americans will be disarmed and at the mercy of thieves, home invaders, rapists, murderers, and madmen just like Congressman Giffords’ assassin.
Second, gun control makes totalitarian regimes possible. I am a Jew. I will never forget that the first thing Adolf Hitler did to imprison, enslave and murder 6 million of my people is pass a law that banned Jews from owning guns. Never again. The lesson of Hitler is that when you lose the right to bear arms and defend yourself, your family and your property, you are at the mercy of tyrants and madmen. Our Founding Fathers understood that clearly. That is precisely why they built the right to own guns into the Constitution. It had far less to do with citizen militias, than it did to allow citizens to defend themselves against a brutal government intent to violate their rights, or steal their property. The right to defend yourself is what insures freedom.

One might wonder why the Department of Homeland Security has recently purchased 450 million rounds of hollow point bullets, which allow "optimum penetration for terminal performance"? Penetration? Terminal
That's almost 2 bullets for every citizen....
Why is DHS purchasing 175 million rounds of .223 caliber ammo?
Why is the government unleashing hundreds, if not thousands, of unmanned drones on our own country? Are they watching terrorists? Or the average American?
Do you know what VIPR is? Why is VIPR creating roadblock checkpoints across the country? Are they seriously afraid terrorists will be rolling through the country with tanks?
  One might agree with Ice-T.
Do you REALLY want to be the only one in the room without a gun?
