The
count is now up to 129 Congressmen and 5 Senators demanding the resignation of the US Attorney General, Eric
Holder.
Fast
and Furious (Gunwalker) was the ill-concieved 2009 operation where
guns were allowed to be purchased by Mexican drug cartels from gun
dealers in Arizona and transported across the boarder. The operation
was created by “unknown” US government officials as a ruse to
dupe citizens into believing that the 2nd. Amendment was the major cause for illegal guns finding their way into illegal hands and, therefore, the 2nd. Amendment needed to be eliminated.
Congressional
hearings, led by Congressman Issa, have been continuing for over a
year with no results. Eric Holder has stonewalled the hearings by
refusing to provide government documents dealing with 13 of the 22
charges and has only provided 8000 highly redacted documents dealing
with the other nine. Obama has been uncharacteristically silent on
the issue.
The
Main Stream Media has also remained silent and as a result, few
people even know of this scandal hanging over the Obama presidency,
waiting to implode.
House
Speaker Boehner, who evidently has the final say in whether or not
Holder is held in contempt of Congress, has refused to allow his
fellow Republicans to file contempt charges. Many are wondering what
the Obama people have over Boehner that makes him so reticent.
Now,
voices are calling for Mitt Romney to come forward because of his
news media access now and call for Holder's resignation if for nothing
more than to bring the Fast and Furious caper into the light of day
for the average citizen of the US.
To date no one has been fired for this scandal.
As a review, here
are the five key accusations against ATF and DOJ made by BATF
whistleblowers and other sources within FedGov:
- That they instructed U.S. gun dealers to proceed with questionable and illegal sales of firearms to suspected gunrunners.
- That they allowed or even assisted in those guns crossing the U.S. border into Mexico to "boost the numbers" of American civilian market firearms seized in Mexico and thereby provide the justification for more firearm restrictions on American citizens and more power and money for ATF.
- That they intentionally kept Mexican authorities in the dark about the operation, even over objections of their own agents.
- That weapons that the ATF let "walk" to Mexico were involved in the deaths of Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry and ICE agent Jaime Zapata, as well as at least hundreds of Mexican citizens.
- That at least since the death of Brian Terry on 14 December, 2010, the Obama administration is engaged in a full-press cover-up of the facts behind what has come to be known as the "Gunwalker Scandal."
