Feds worker harder than you!

Several family members worked for the United States Postal Service; it was well known that the USPS skewed test scores of applicants to get who they wanted for certain jobs.
Of course, the governmental machine in a nearby city (cough cough) was so corrupt that one family member dreaded going to work and was told he was the only Republican ever to rise in the ranks without making kickback payments to the bigwigs.
Another registered Republican family member desperately needed a job during the Carter years, had a college education and was told he could only be hired for 89 days in a nearby city (cough cough). No permanent work for you! Those jobs were reserved for others not so smart and maybe registered a different way.
The mail handlers test consisted of questions like this:
  Circle the correct answer.
  4 & 9 equals
  • a)  13
  • b)  4
  • c)  9
  • d) 0
He's pretty sure he did well on the test. During those 89 days when he was a temporary substitute summer mail carrier, he proved to be an excellent worker, which was frowned upon by the regulars.
They scolded at him to slow down and not finish his routes so fast. It made them look bad.
That is not to say, of course, that all USPS workers are bad, although I have had to personally deliver mail to 3 of my neighbors that landed in my box the last few weeks. With the squeeze on current USPS workers to work harder to pay the pensions of all the  51 year old retirees depending on them, it's pretty stressful.
It just seems like some of those USPS workers who man the counter are often, shall we say, attitudinally challenged
Why this is is unknown, but it is possible that, like teachers in some cities, the promise that you can't get fired and you all get the same amount of money no matter what quality job you do might lead to lack of motivation in excellence.
I say all that to get to my point in this post.
Rep. Ben Cardin has gone before a rabid union group and rabidly claimed that federal workers work harder than the private sector, where there are no guaranteed pensions, health care, weeks and vacation and automatic raises.
Watch in disbelief and remember that the average federal worker makes $75,000 yearly with $28,000 in benefits.
