WSPD's Brian Wilson makes national headlines

Once again, Toledo has made national headlines, at least in conservative circles.
Local WSPD radio programmer Brian Wilson took umbrage at Mark Levin's disagreement with Ron Paul so he promptly canceled Levin, making a national stink about his reasons.
Now, if you're a talk radio addict, you might have moved away from Brian Wilson long ago because you may have noticed he's become a Paulbot.
Levin and the conservative market's objection to Wilson's Paulbot action is that, like the current administration, it seems you can't disagree and still be an independent thinker who believes in freedom.
As a listener, I didn't really see a problem with Brian Wilson moving south and still broadcasting to the Toledo market. Certainly that's standard in a national market although probably unusual in local markets.
Nor did I think it serious to accuse Wilson of racism by his calling TPS students "little monkeys" regarding what they were learning. Like the current ridiculous kerfuffle over an ESPN reporter asking where the "chink" in Jeremy Lin's "armor" was, taking offense at every little nuance of people who speak publicly so frequently is ridiculous, divisive and just looking to be offended.
But it appears Wilson is not content with dissing Levin, but also is dissing the Toledo area, which is varied in political opinion, as is usual for any depressed city where everyone moves to the suburbs to get away from the onerous taxes, crime and lack of city services.
There's lots more over at Big Journalism:
Wilson claims the Toledo area has “a dedication to stupidity and ignorance” and he appears to think only like-minded, Paul-supporting radio talkers can solve the problem.
Wilson also cites “white guilt” and political correctness as reasons for Obama’s winning the presidency. At one point he claims to cite Ron Paul, saying, “you got the welfare party and the warfare party” in discussing Democrats and Republicans.
I quit listening to Brian long ago because of his constant Ron Paul grinding; it is tiresome to hear anyone who is so in the can for one candidate at this point, although personally I can never hear enough negative Obama talk because he's truly the worst POTUS this country has ever had and certainly Michelle O! is the most self centered, misrepresented and egotistical FLOTUS we've ever had.
But the nasally, arrogant Brian Wilson is too much.
WJR's Frank Beckmann's morning program is excellent; even Mitch Albom's afternoon drive show is better than Brian Wilson. Certainly Sean Hannity is.

  1. I could never stand listening to the guy.

He chews his words, uses more "ahs" and "uhhs" than a teenage school dropout and is difficult to follow.

Just once I wish he would gather his thoughts before he engaged his mouth. No, I can't listen to him...

  2. I also was able to overlook the fact Wilson moved to another state to broadcast his show. The thing that bothers me is when he pretends that he's broadcasting from Toledo (e.g. "It looks dreary out today," "The river looks choppy.") Why be deceptive?

  3. No kidding. I can't take it. That Fred's turning into the same type of guy. I'm so sick of talk about RON PAUL RON PAUL RON PAUL. I just don't want to hear about him. He's completely wrong for this country.

  4. I noticed the same thing about Fred. Particularly bad during the afternoon recap @ 5:35pm. Brian's interview style is poor in that I too have noticed the ahs and ums awhile ago but I think he wastes his time with these national figures by asking questions that take 45 seconds to spit out and appear more focused on injecting more words he learned from verbal advantage and hearing himself talk than providing his listeners an insightful entertaining interview.
