Gallup Survey Paints Dire Picture For Obama In 2012

If one looks hard enough at practically any data one can find a bright spot. Looking at the latest survey from Gallup there is some good news. For instance Obama's job performance improved 3 points in Wyoming from 2010 to 2011. The bad news is his approval number there is now 30.6%. Only ten states and the District of Columbia give a 50 percent or better rating. Notice that in 4 of his best states Obama is only marginally above 50%.

Obama's worst numbers are in Utah where his approval rating is a dismal 28.6%. Frankly, I'm surprised he is doing as well as he is in West Virginia.

Gallup has devised a list of 12 swing states that Obama must carry along with the traditional blue states. In this group Obama trails in all twelve states.

These data are derived from Gallup's daily tracking poll and represent the results of 180,000 telephone interviews. There were no fewer than 500 respondents from any state. State samples are weighted so they are demographically representative of the population of each state. To see where you state ranked go here.
