Troy Michigan Mayors Says No to Federal Money
Someone should build a memorial to the Tea Party endorsed mayor of Troy, Michigan. “There’s nothing free about government money,” Mayor Janice Daniels said in an interview. “It’s never free, and it’s crippling our way of life.” Her honor made those comments as she rejected $8.5 million in stimulus funds for a transportation center. The federal money would have covered the entire cost of the transportation hub but the mayor was also a founder of the local Tea Party. This wasn't the first time Daniels embraced controversy. Commenting on New York's law allowing same sex marriages on her FaceBook page Daniels opined, “I think I am going to throw away my I Love New York carrying bag now that queers can get married there.” In an interview, she said she regretted the online comment.
