More troops into another country

According to Rush, the "Lord's Resistance Army" is a Christian group fighting against the oppression of Muslims:
Two days ago President Obama authorized the deployment to Uganda of approximately 100 combat-equipped U.S. forces to help regional forces “remove from the battlefield” – meaning capture or kill – Lord’s Resistance Army leader Joseph Kony and senior leaders of the LRA.
They've been accused of monstrous acts, yet here is what one of their leaders says from Wikipedia:

During an interview with IRIN, Vincent Otti was asked about the LRA's vision of an ideal government, to which he responded
"Lord’s Resistance Army is just the name of the movement, because we are fighting in the name of God. God is the one helping us in the bush. That’s why we created this name, Lord’s Resistance Army. And people always ask us, are we fighting for the [biblical] Ten Commandments of God. That is true – because the Ten Commandments of God is the constitution that God has given to the people of the world. All people. If you go to the constitution, nobody will accept people who steal, nobody could accept to go and take somebody’s wife, nobody could accept to innocently kill, or whatever. The Ten Commandments carries all this."[15]
Barack Obama says this is in OUR NATIONAL SECURITY INTERESTS.
There are between 500 to 3000 members of this "army," which is made up mostly of children soldiers. Here are their goals:
In the same speech, Obita also stated that the LRA's objectives are:
  1. To remove dictatorship and stop the oppression of our people.
  1. To fight for the immediate restoration of competitive multi-party democracy in Uganda.
  1. To see an end to gross violation of human rights and dignity of Ugandans.
  1. To ensure the restoration of peace and security in Uganda.
  1. To ensure unity, sovereignty and economic prosperity beneficial to all Ugandans
  1. To bring to an end to the repressive policy of deliberate marginalization of groups of people who may not agree with the LRA ideology.
Yet I'm not sure about this. Others says this about LRA:
The Lord’s Resistance Army has waged war against the Ugandan government since 1987 but often forays into other neighbouring African countries. It has a reputation for extreme violence including random murder, abduction, mutilation, sexual enslavement of women and children, and forcing children to participate in hostilities. The group is considered a terrorist organisation by the United States.
It was founded and is led by Joseph Kony. He has formed the guerrillas into a religious cult based on a blend of Christianity, traditional African religion and witchcraft. He claims to be a spokesman of God and a “medium” of the Holy Spirit.
Some claim the LRA is sponsored by Muslims.
Regardless, why are American troops moving into yet another country? Why? How are our best interests involved?
These troops will only fire in self defense, according to USA Today.
  Really?
  Then why are we there?
We'll wait to see the protests on Wall Street about this.
