House Subcommittee Will Investigate Planned Parenthood

Republican Congressman Cliff Sterns who chairs the House Subcommittee and Investigation issued a letter to Planned Parenthood on September 15 requesting financial records going back 12 years within two weeks. That means they are due tomorrow. The committee will investigate allegations of improper billing, over billing and commingling of government with PP abortion funds, and failure to report minor sex abuse. Planned Parenthood has lined up it Congressional allies, such as Henry Waxman and Diana DeGette and reached out to its media friends to spin this investigation as some latter day witch hunt. Americans United for Life, a PP critic has released its own report finding among other things that far from being a minor part of its business, abortion accounts for 37 percent of PP's revenues. One might wonder if all of this is leading to an outright defunding of PP after the 2012 election when a Herman Cain, Rick Perry, or Michele Bachmann would not be the sort of President PP would want for an enemy.
