Where are Obama's minders? Sir, the optics are terrible

As the nation was rocked with the news that our credit was downgraded, *The Prince* was nowhere to be seen. While one of the architects of the economy declared he would remain with the sinking ship, the Scold in Chief was vacationing this weekend.
To be fair, there really is no vacation place a president can hide. In this modern age, a president can be in constant contact.
To be partisan (a state in which many of us unhappily find ourselves nowdays), the optics of partying all week, begging for money in fundraisers, then going on vacation and rumored to be golfing are simply and unequivocally terrible.
In an oddly detached speech, before he left for vacation at Camp David, Obama assured the country limply that "things will get better."
Then he flew off into the blue horizon.
This was a week when we lost 30 Navy SEALS, to whom the Scold in Chief owes his only success and to whose actions the Scold in Chief lays claim through an upcoming Hollywood film, due out in October of 2012 .
Never mind the loss of the Seals' lives. Those lives are only meant to enhance the downgraded image of the commander in chief.
The entire weekend was spent by the public in panic and discouragement about the loss of a good credit rating and its effect on pension funds and personal savings and business in America, yet the leader of this country was missing.
The stock market has swung wildly back and forth the past week, but the president plays to his adoring audience, soaking up the adulation and dollars of the very rich, who are different from you and me, and who think, deep in their hearts, that they are better than we are.
But rather than appearing in front of the nation with conservatives and liberals alike to show solidarity in fighting the economic challenges our country faces, The Man has hidden, sending emissaries out to place the blame on the Tea Party and anyone who actually tried to get the spending under control.
Do these people actually think the downgrade was due to a few months of conflict in Washington?
Do these people not remember that THEY were in sole charge of the government and its treasury for two long years?
Do these people not remember they have not passed a budget in over 800 days?
Regardless, the need not just to blame others, but to NOT work productively on solving these problems, but rather to hide from the public eye is becoming pathological.
Remember the missing Obama when the Detroit terrorist was caught? He was vacationing in Hawaii.
Remember the missing Obama during the Gulf oil spill? He couldn't be bothered.
Obama has often been criticized for frequently voting "present" on difficult issues when he was in the Illinois legislature.
Now, it seems, he isn't even checking in.
Most empty suits would have an adjustment bureau to correct this behavior, at least for the cameras, if not through policy. That fact alone must mean the president of the United States is, by choice, not interested in reassuring the people of this country.
  He prefers to go missing.
  What is The Man thinking?
  Where are his minders?
In short, what in the hell is going on in this administration?
