NLRB Slowly Fading

Chairwoman of the National Labor Relations Board, Wilma B. Liebman’s term expires tonight. She is a Clinton appointee and has served for fourteen years. In normal times a new appointee would be ready to be sworn in but these are not normal times. With the expiration Craig Becker's term at the end of the year, the NLRB will find itself down to just two members. The Supreme Court ruled in 2010 that a minimum of three members are necessary for the board to issue any rules. Unless Republican Senators suddenly have a change of heart going into an election year the board will be neutered. A new administration could elect not to appoint any new members thus gradually killing the NLRB.
