In the past, McCain has even complained that Palin, by virtue of her existence, has interfered with McCain's dating life:
Meghan McCain: No. I’m in, like, dating Babylon. Like, I go on dates with men and, literally, like Sarah Palin will come up in like the first 20 minutes, and that doesn’t put me in the mood. Like, talking about Sarah Palin. And they just want to know gossip, and I’m just kind of taking a little hiatus from dating right now, because I just don’t want to talk about Sarah Palin.McCain's stance on conservatives is of great interest to the left, who fawn over her and invite her to their parties.
So naturally the New York Times does a perky little profile on her; McCain took this auspicious occasion to mention to the grey lady that she had to wake up every day with her "large breasts" and that her favorite Democrat is Anthony Weiner.
A Twitter post flaunting those large breasts caused an uproar in the blogosphere; McCain was super surprised that anyone would find this picture unusual or remarkable in any way:
After she innocently posted this pic, cutely pursed lips and all, she was shocked at the reaction and "verbal harassment" that followed, denouncing Twitter and claiming she was just trying to show what a "dork" she is by staying in reading and eating takeout.
Boopety boop. Bang.
Yet we are to take this person seriously, so seriously that she'd like us to read her column in The Daily Beast. Her opinions on politics, conservatives and Republicans matter, dammit, because she's a maverick.
Little Ms. McCain just can't understand why anyone takes Palin seriously.
In a blog post entitled, "Sarah Palin is a tease", McCain writes in the Daily Beast:
As I watched on TV the nest of reporters and groupies surround Palin at the Iowa State Fair, I couldn’t help but sit back and wonder if she’s become the ultimate party crasher for the Republican Party. [SNIP]
We all know that Sarah Palin loves attention.[ed. HA!] I think it’s quite obvious at this point that Sarah Palin is starting to feel threatened that there are new Republican darlings in town and that the media stronghold she once monopolized is clearly loosening. I think what we are seeing this summer is Palin in panic mode—and let’s face it, she should be panicking. It’s a new election cycle, and there are new kids in town that could very well start stepping on her Palin brand. [SNIP]
Either put your hat in the ring and show America what you want to do with our country, or step back and let other politicians whose time has come have their moment. God knows, you have had yours. Now why waste time on a blog post about what Ms McCain thinks, as she has some obvious, um, flaws, not the least of which is narcissism, something she shares with certain other people we talk about frequently.
This is significant because this is one of the memes being used now by trolls and McCain types to discredit Palin.
Read this written by Jacobsen about why he no longer supports Bachmann because of her campaign's attacks on Palin and then scroll down to comments about Palin and notice the "Palin is a flirt" meme repeated there.
Why is that important?
Because this attempt to sexualize everything Palin does and is is a form of discrediting her politically. Use the terms "flirt" and "tease" and what do we think of? A sex kitten, of course. Do we ever see those terms used for male political commenters or presidential candidates?
Where women are concerned, since politics is a rough and tumble game, sexualizing attractive conservative women is a sport for the left; apparently it's much safer to run unattractive women on the left.
Regardless of whether Palin runs for president, what makes these twits think that they have the right to say who gets to have political opinions, Facebook accounts and contracts with Fox to discuss politics?
Why would Palin be ineligible to comment politically but somebody like McCain is?
The forms of discrediting conservative candidates are many.
We've moved from Romney as "weird" to Perry as "Scary Perry." Bachmann, too, is sexualized and also discredited through her religion, her personality and her "extremist" positions that, oddly, generally reflect many of the views of a majority of the American people.
The extreme reaction of the Obama people toward Perry's entering the race, who have already thrown the kitchen sink, indicates he is a formidable candidate, even though they're claiming they're much more frightened of facing the weird Mitt Romney.
"I was praying Perry would get in the race," one Obama drone claims because Perry will be easier to beat than milque toast Romney.
This belies the reality of attacks the Obama machine has committed in the past week.
As far as Ms. McCain goes, I'm ignoring her from now on because, God knows, you've had your moment.
