The Lead From Behind Republicans

There has been a steady stream of hysterical weeping coming from The Hill and the Weekly Standard since the Rasmussen poll showed Rick Perry with a double digit lead over Mitt Romney. They patronizingly accepted Michele Bachman largely because she was in second place. Now Rick Perry has come to town, slapped the bejesus out of the student body president, Mitt Romney and has been marking his territory like an alpha dog. The same crowd that assured Fox listeners that Jon Huntsman would be a "serious candidate" and sang the praises of bland Mitch Daniels has solicited bland Mitch Daniels to entice Wisconsin Congressman Paul Ryan to get into the race. "“If there were a Paul Ryan fan club, I'd be a national officer,”gushed a bland Mitch Daniels. Never mind that running on the Ryan budget as the Republican platform might interest conservative economists it would a boring disaster for the GOP.

Over at The Hill we get; "The entrance of Gov. Rick Perry (R-Texas) into the presidential race has placed many Republicans in a quandary. The question is simple: Would Perry or former Gov. Mitt Romney of Massachusetts be a stronger general-election candidate against President Obama? The answer is the subject of feverish debate — and genuine uncertainty." Now one would think the guy who was ahead in the polls would be the stronger candidate but not at the Hill. There is the independent voter who the bellicose Perry might might offend to worry about. Really? Maybe the Republican should all sit out the primary and invite independent voters to choose their candidates for them. Perry's offhand remark about treating poor Ben Bernanke "real mean" while resonating well in middle America causes chronic bed wetting in DC. One such strategist, Sabrina Schaeffer, said that she would like to see a candidate “who can rally support in an unpolarizing way and can help move the country in a conservative direction without being divisive.” She probably isn't talking about Sarah Palin. What we see at The Hill and Weekly Standard are the "lead from behind" Republicans.

  1. Yeah, well, what's crazy is I've heard people talking about a Perry/Romney ticket, which absolutely would NOT work because they're both alpha males. Can you imagine Romney taking VP? No.

Ryan, I love. Nuh uh. Maybe VP.

I say polarize. We're already polarized. Honestly who's more polarizing than the dude we have in there now?

I'm mad at Malkin too. There is NO PERFECT CANDIDATE.
